Shop Floor Employee Reporting with HR—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

You should setup the following required basic data before this setup can be started:

Required Data

In this exercise we will use the same parts that you used in the exercises for shop floor reporting in employee mode. Please make sure that you have followed the setup for that exercise.

Main Exercise

Reporting via Shop Floor Workbench in Employee Mode- Scenario 1, Introducing Time Card Day

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to demonstrate the use of Shop Floor Workbench, when using employee report mode on the site. In this scenario we will introduce the time card and auto resume options.

Windows:
Shop Floor Workbench
Time Card - Day

Note: In this exercise reporting should be done on the first shop order created for the exercise. To perform this exercise, you will need to have your employee set up to be a HR user.

  1. Open the Time Clock window and click In.
  2. In the Emp ID field, enter your employee id and click OK.
  3. Open the Shop Floor Workbench window. The Enter As dialog box appears.
  4. In the Employee field of the Enter As dialog box, enter your employee id.
  5. Select operation 10 and click Start Production.
  6. Open the Time Card - Day window for your employee and notice that the ongoing operation is visible in the Mfg Clocking tab.
  7. Open the Time Clock window and click Out to leave for the day.
  8. Open the Time Card - Day window for your employee once again to notice that the clocking is stopped in the Mfg Clocking tab. Also notice that the Auto Stopped check box is selected.
  9. Go to the Shop Floor Workbench window, enter as your user and search for the operation you just reported on. In the Clockings tab, notice that the machine clocking is stopped. The reason for this is the setting on the work center for auto stop machine. In this case the work center has the Auto Stopped check box selected and the machine clocking will therefore be stopped when the last employee automatically clocks out of the operation.
  10. There are 3 different options regarding what should happen when you clock in for the day, either nothing should happen or the auto stopped operations should always resume or a message should be displayed inquiring if the operations should resume.
  11. In the Time Clock window clock-in and notice that a new clocking is created for the user for the operation. This setting can be found in the Resume Option field in the Manufacturing Labor Class window for the employee.

Reporting operations in Time Card Day - Scenario 2, Introducing Time Card Day

Purpose: To demonstrate the possibility of reporting time in shop orders via time card day

Windows:
Time Card - Day

  1. Open the Time Card - Day window and query for your employee id.
  2. In the Date field on the header, select yesterday’s date.
  3. Create a new record in the Clocking tab.
  4. If the value in the In Time field does not default to 8:00 AM. (08.00 in the 24 hour clock) change it to 8:00 AM (or 08:00 in the 24 hour clock).
  5. Save the information.
  6. Click the Mfg Clocking tab, right-click and then click Add labor Clocking.
  7. Select the operation id of the first operation created for this exercise.
  8. Set the Time Type field to Run Time.
  9. If the Start Time does not default to 8:00 AM (08.00 in the 24 hour clock) change it to 8:00 AM (08.00 in the 24 hour clock).
  10. Click OK to save the information. This will start a clocking with yesterday’s start time and with the operation as still ongoing.
  11. Check the values in the Calc Status field and the Diff field on the header of the window. Since you have not specified an end time for the clocking, there will be no result and therefore the diff will be the whole day.
  12. Click the Mfg Clocking tab, right-click on the clocking you created and then click Modify Start/Stop Time. Enter the same date value in the Start Date and Stop Date fields and enter 5:00 PM in the Stop Time field.
  13. Click the Clocking tab, and enter 5:00 PM in the Out Time field for the attendance clocking record you created first.
  14. Save the information.
  15. Check the Calc Status field and the Diff field on the header of the window.
  16. Click the Mfg Clocking tab, and change the Stop Time to 4:00 PM on your operation clocking so that you don't account for the whole attendance time period.
  17. Save the information.
  18. Check the Calc Status field and the Diff field on the header of the window.

Reporting Operations via Shop Floor Workbench in the Employee Mode- Scenario 3, Reporting in Shop Floor Workbench in Combination with In/Out Reports in Time Clock

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to demonstrate the use of Shop Floor Workbench, when using employee report mode on the site. In this scenario we will look into reporting for one employee, reporting different operations during the day as well as both indirect time and team reporting. Then we will look at the results in time card day, and also add extra reporting there.

Windows:
Shop Floor Workbench
Time Card - Day

Note: In this exercise reporting should be done on the first shop order created for the exercise. To perform this exercise, you will need to have your employee set up to be a HR user.

  1. Start the workbench for a HR employee user.
  2. Start production for operation 10 on the shop order for this exercise.
  3. Notice that you will start time for both machine and labor.
  4. Since the employee has not yet clocked in via Time Clock, you will see a message that you will be auto-clocked in via the time clock when you start the operation.
  5. Modify the start time on the labor clocking in the Clocking tab, (set the time to 09.00) and notice that the start time on the clocking is modified. Do the same for the machine clocking. Notice that the operation is ongoing (indicated by the cogwheel) and you will see that the clockings don´t have a stop date.
  6. Now start an indirect job (10) for your employee. Notice the message that appears displaying that the operation will be stopped. Since the Auto Stopped check box is selected for the work center, the machine clocking will also be stopped. Wait a while to simulate performing the indirect job. Notice that the operation is set to partially reported, but no quantities are reported yet.
  7. Stop the indirect time and wait a while before continuing with reporting. This will give you a time diff on your time card, because you are clocked in via Time Clock, but you are not reporting while clocked in to an operation.
  8. Select operation 10 and start production again. Wait a while and then approve the operation.
  9. Continue to work on the operation 20 and 30 and complete the operations at end of day.
  10. Go to the time card day and summarize the day, the Manufacturing tab shows reporting, add an indirect clocking for a meeting (Indirect job 30) in the morning.
  11. Add a manufacturing clocking for operation 30 on the shop order you have for this exercise. Set the start and finish time to a date that you have not reported other work.
  12. Check the diff for the day, and notice that you have not reported throughout. Authorize anyway (you should be within tolerance for the day) and notice that the day is filled up with the indirect time from the employee on the labor class. (Indirect job 20).
  13. Authorize the day and notice that the day is filled up with the indirect time code for the user.

Note: Shop floor workbench does not have any possibility for an employee to sign in or out, but when you start operations and indirect jobs, it will verify that you are clocked in. If you are not, then you will be clocked in when starting the operation.

Reporting via Shop Floor Workbench in the Employee Mode- Scenario 4, Reporting via Shop Floor Workbench using the Magnetic Card for Identification

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to demonstrate the use of shop floor workbench, when using employee report mode on the site, using HR for time and attendance via a magnetic card for identification.

Windows:
Shop Floor Workbench

Note: In this exercise reporting should be done on the shop order created for this exercise. In the exercise we assume that you have a card reader connected to your PC, but if you don´t have one, you can also manually put in the text string that is printed on your magnetic card.

  1. Open the Shop Floor Workbench window.
  2. When the Enter As dialog opens, swipe your magnetic card and verify that the workbench is populated with your employee id and your filter etc.

  5. Make sure that the Close Operation check box and Report Time check box are selected.
  6. If required, change the time to report in the Operation Time area. The default value is the time from the shop order for the reported quantity.
  7. Click OK to report time and to issue operation connected components as well as to close operations.
  8. Repeat steps 2 to 6 for operation 20.
  9. Select operation 30 and click Approve Operation.
  10. Since this is the last operation on the shop order, the Receive area will be enabled.
  11. Make sure that the entire quantity is entered in the Qty to Report and Qty to Receive fields.
  12. Make sure that the Close Operation check box, Report Time check box and Receive into Inventory check box are selected.
  13. If required, change the time to report in the Operation Time area.
