Setup Shop Floor Employee Reporting with HR—Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

You should setup the following required basic data before this setup can be started:

Basic Data Setup

This set of basic data setup exercises assume that your user has a HR position that allows you to create new employees in different positions. This can be done with the user Alain for RACE data on company 10. Make sure that this user has access to your site. In the exercise you should use your own user, but in the exercises where you verify the results in Time Card Day, you need to log on as a user that can administer employees.

Setup the Site for Employee Reporting Mode

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up a site to be used for employee reporting mode and set the site to default site for the user.

Windows:

Sites per User

  1. Query for the site you created in the employee setup for reporting in the Site window.
  2. Click the Manufacturing tab and verify that the Reporting Mode is set to Employee in the Shop Floor Reporting Settings area.
  3. Select the Authorization Required check box.
  4. Save the record.
  5. Open the Sites per User window and query for your user id.
  6. Right-click on your site, and then click Set as Default Site.

Enter Employee Card Parameters

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to connect a user to a card to be able to use Card reader in the main exercise. This exercise assumes that you have a card that looks like: #01234_ where # is the start character and the card length is 5 characters, i.e. 5 characters after the start character. Please note that the start character is case sensitive.

Windows:
Employee Card Parameters

  1. Open the Employee Card Parameters window and create a new record.
  2. In the User ID field, enter your user id.
  3. In the Total Card Data Length field, enter 5 (note that the start character is not included in this number).
  4. In the Start Character field, enter #.
  5. Since we will not use company information in this exercise, enter 0 - 0 in the Company ID is derived from area.
  6. In the Card Data area, click Employee Card under Contains.
  7. In the Which is derived from field, enter 2 to 5.

Enter Employees using the New Employee Assistant

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a new employee record, connect it to a person and use the employee in the main exercise.

Windows:
New Employee

  1. Open the New Employee window.
  2. Click Create a New Person ID and click Next.
  3. In the Emp ID field, enter an appropriate employee id.
  4. In the Person ID field, enter an appropriate person id.
  5. In the Select Wizard Configuration area, enter SFR or click List to select SFR and click Next.
  6. Enter appropriate information in the Enter Name Fields area and click Next.
  7. In the Position ID field in the Enter Primary Position and Job Data area, enter WORK-00 and click Next.
  8. In the Employment Type field in the Enter Employment Data area, select full time. Then click Next.
  9. In the Enter Location and Access Information area, select the Time Clock User check box. Then click Next.
  10. In the Enter Schedule Information area , set the Wage Class field to 10, Schedule field to 140-001, and Shift field to 1.
  11. In the Time and Attendance Time Base field, select Generated Clockings.
  12. In the Rule Type field, enter 100 and click Next.
  13. In the Enter Shop Floor Information area, set the Site field to your site and the Labor Class field to 1,
  14. In the Resume field, select Ask for Resume.
  15. In the Indirect Job for Diff field, enter 20. This field is enabled only if the the Authorization Required check box is selected under the Manufacturing tab on the Site window.
  16. In the Filter field, enter 300.
  17. Make sure that the Handle Time for Others check box and the Workbench User check box is selected. Then click Next.
  18. Click Finish and make sure that the information is saved.

Note: This exercise assume that you have done the required setup from previous exercises.
         To be able to perform this exercise, you need to set up your use to have sufficient HR permission.

Connect logged on user with Person

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to connect your logged on user with the person you created when creating the new employee. This will give you access to the time card day for your employee

Windows:
Person

  1. Open the Person window and in the Person ID field, select the person id you created in the previous exercise.
  2. In the User ID field, enter your logged on user.
  3. Save the information.

Connect Employee Card Parameters to Employee

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to connect a user to a card in order to be able to use the card reader in the main exercise.

  1. Open the Employee window and query for the employee that you created in the previous exercise.
  2. On the Employee window, click the Employment tab and on the Employment tab click the General tab.
  3. In the Card No field, enter 1234.

Note: Before starting this exercise you need to complete the exercise Enter Employee Card Parameters.
         In this exercise we assume that the card you use has the following text string; #01234, where # is the card delimiter. If you have another card, replace the above instructions with the information on your card.

Enter Time Clock parameters and verify Time Clock terminal

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a time card terminal configuration for your logged on user.

  1. Open the Time Clock Terminals window and create a new record.
  2. In the User ID field, enter your user id.
  3. In the Time Clock Type field, select TIMREP from the List of values.
  4. In the Default Company field, enter your company (i.e. 10).
  5. Save the record.
  6. Open the Time Clock window to verify that you can open the window and that the window has buttons to clock in (IN) and clock out (OUT).
