Setup Basic Data for the Site for Shop Floor Reporting—Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Enter an Interruption Cause for the Site

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create an interruption cause to be used in the main exercise.

Windows:
Interruption Causes

  1. Open the Interruption Causes window and create a new record.
  2. In the Interruption Cause field, enter 10.
  3. In the Interruption Description field, enter material problem.
  4. In the Interruption Cause Category field, select Material from the drop down list.
    Note: The interruption cause should be created for the site you would use in this exercise.
  5. Create another record and set the Interruption Cause to 20, Interruption Description to Machine down and select Equipment from the drop down list in Interruption Cause Category field.
    Note: The interruption cause should be created for the site you would use in this exercise.
  6. Save the information.

Create a Manufacturing Labor Class on your Site

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to copy the manufacturing labor class from site 1 to your site.

Windows:
Manufacturing Labor Class

  1. Open the Manufacturing Labor Class window and query for labor class 1 on site 1.
  2. Copy the labor class to your site.

Create Work Centers on your Site

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to copy the manufacturing work centers from site 1 to your site.

Windows:
Work Center

  1. Open the Work Center window and query for work center 380 on site 1.
  2. Copy the work center to your site and remove the department before you save.
  3. Do the same for work center 200, 300, CNCT and CNCG.
  4. Make sure that the work center 300 has the Auto Stop Machine Clocking check box selected.

Enter Filter for Shop Floor Workbench

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create filters for shop floor workbench to be used in the main exercise.

Windows:
Shop Floor Workbench Filters

  1. Open the Shop Floor Workbench Filters window and create a new record.
  2. In the Filter field, enter 380.
  3. In the Filter Description field, enter WC 380.
  4. In the Site field, select the site for which the filter should be valid.
  5. Select which operations are to be displayed as default by selecting Executable in the Selection field. The first operation of released shop orders and the operations with any quantity reported in the previous operation will be displayed. When there is a reported quantity in the previous operation of the parallel operations, all the successive parallel operations will be displayed.
  6. Select how the operations should be sorted by selecting As Scheduled in the Dispatch Rule field. Operations will be sorted in the ascending order according to the planned start date.
  7. In the Work Center field, select 380.
  8. Save the record.

Create Inventory Location

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up an inventory picking location for running functionality based on the site.

Windows:
Inventory Locations

If you haven't done so already, create the inventory picking location as displayed in the table below.
