Basic Data Setup

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the maintenance organization required for the following exercises.

Create Linear Asset

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the linear asset that is required for performing the exercises below.

  1. Create a new linear asset with the ID M6EB.
  2. In the Site field, enter 70.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the segment that is required for performing the exercises below.

  1. Create a new segment with the following information:

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is show you how to create a work order on a linear asset and to (after the work order is saved) change the object on the work order to an equipment object. This exercise guides you through the steps involved in reporting a fault in the road tunnel that needs to be corrected.

Windows:

        Service and Maintenance/Work Order Management/Preparation/Prepare Work Order

Create Work Order

  1. Open the Prepare Work Order window.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the Directive field, enter Flooding in the tunnel.
  4. In the Reported By field, select the person who created the work order using the List of Values. Note: If a person is connected to the user ID of the logged-on user, the value in this field will appear automatically.
  5. In the Connection Type field, select connection type LINEAR ASSET in the drop-down menu.
  6. In the Object ID field, enter M6EB (manually or using the List of Values).
  7. Select an appropriate maintenance organization for the work using the List of Values.
  8. Click Save.

Linear Asset Information

  1. Open the Prepare Work Order window.
  2. Select the work order from the previous exercise (Create Work Order).
  3. Click on the Linear Asset tab.
  4. In the Start Reference Element ID field, enter TU01 (manually or using the List of Values) indicating that the reported issue is somewhere within the tunnel.
  5. Click Save.
  6. An Information Message will appear asking if you want to replace existing pre-postings. Click Yes. Note: If you right-click and choose Pre Posting you can see that the Cost Cent value is 300.

Change Connection Type

  1. Open the Prepare Work Order window.
  2. Select the work order from the previous exercise (Linear Asset Information).
  3. After some investigation the conclusion is that the flooding is caused by a pump failure. The work order needs to reflect this.
  4. Click on the General tab.
  5. In the Connection Type field, change the connection type to EQUIPMENT.
  6. In the Object ID field, enter PM-312-PA-502  (manually or using the List of Values).
  7. Click Save.
  8. An Information Message will appear asking if you want to replace existing pre-postings. Click Yes. Note: If you right-click and choose Pre Posting you can see that the Cost Cent value has changed to 11431201.
  9. Click on the Linear Asset tab. Note: The Linear Asset M6EB still has a connection to the work order, indicating that the work effects the linear asset even though the work order is recorded on the pump.
