Object Information—Key Exercises

Basic Data Setup

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the object level and virtual map settings that are required for performing the exercises below.

  1. Create a new object level that allows serial objects to be connected to it.

Create Functional Object

  1. Create a new functional object with the object ID XX2122.40, Pulp Pump 4, where XX is your initials. The object should not be connected to any parent object.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to show you what kinds of information can be connected to an equipment object.

General Information

  1. Open the Equipment Object Navigator and query for the functional object XX2122.40 Pulp Pump 4 by clicking Search on the toolbar (F3).
  2. Select the XX2122.40 Pulp Pump 4 object in the tree structure.
  3. See that this object can be viewed as Selected Object in the Summary tab to the right.
  4. Select the Functional Object tab.
  5. Click the General tab.
  6. Use the List of Values to select APP20-300 as the type designation and 100 Pump as the object type for the Pump.
  7. Enter 13 Mechanical as the category and 50 as the Group ID. Also enter the room/position description.
  8. Select an appropriate cost center using the List of Values.
  9. Enter ABB Automation AB as the supplier.
  10. Save your changes (F12).

Type Designation

  1. If you entered and saved any information in the Type Designation field on the General tab, more detailed information of this type designation appears on the Type Designation tab.  
  2. Click the Characteristics tab. Select a new technical class using the List of Values. 
  3. Save the new information. The connected attributes are displayed.
  4. Approve the type designation, by right-clicking and then clicking Change Status.

Note: If you want to create a new object type and link technical characteristics to it, perform the Characteristics exercise.

Technical Information

  1. Click the Requirements tab (functional object) or the Technical Data tab (serial object).
  2. Enter the appropriate technical information. Place the cursor in the Technical Class field and click New. Then select an appropriate technical class using the List of Values.

Spare Parts

  1. Click the Spare Parts tab.
  2. Enter the appropriate spare parts. To do so, click New, and place the cursor in the Part No field. Then select an appropriate part using the List of Values.
  3. In the Quantity field, enter the number of spare parts.
  4. Save your changes.

Note: Sometimes you want to connect a part to a detached spare parts list. This is done in the Detached Spare Part List window.  

  1. Open the Detached Spare Part List window. 
  2. Populate the table (F2).
  3. Select a part from the list, or query for a part (F3).
  4. To add an inventory purchase part to a spare parts list, create a new row in the table. In the Component Part No field, select the part that you want to connect to this part. Select an appropriate component part number using the List of Values, and enter an appropriate quantity. 
  5. To add a non-inventory purchase part to a spare parts list, create a new row in the table. Right-click on the row, click LOV from Purchase Part, select the part that you want to connect to this part and double-click. Enter an appropriate quantity. 
  6. You can follow the part structure for a part by selecting the first row in the table, right-clicking, and then clicking either Next Level or Previous level. If the part belongs to a structure, then the Structure field has the value Yes. 
  7. Save your changes.

Parties

  1. Open the Equipment Object Navigator and query for the functional object PM-312-PA-101 Pulp Pump 1 by clicking Search on the toolbar (F3).
  2. Select the PM-312-PA-101 Pulp Pump 1 object in the tree structure.
  3. See that this object can be viewed as Selected Object in the Summary tab to the right.
  4. Select the Functional Object tab.
  5. Click the Parties tab.
  6. In this tab, click New.
  7. In the Party Type field, select Customer from the list.
  8. In the Party Identity field, enter Customer 1000 as the customer.
  9. Save your changes.

Replace Part

Note: Sometimes you need to replace an erroneous part in one or more of the following lists: object spare part lists, detached spare part lists, spare part lists for PM actions, and material lists for separate/route standard jobs. This is done in the Replace Part window. 

  1. Open the Replace Part window.
  2. Use the List of Values to enter both the part to be replaced and the replacement part.
  3. In the Replace Options (Required) area, select the appropriate check boxes to indicate where you want the replacements to be valid. Be sure to select at least one list for the replacement. 
  4. Click OK to confirm the replacement.

Retrieve Equipment Object Positions

  1. Open the Functional Object window. Query for XX2122.40, Pulp Pump 4 where XX is your initials.
  2. Right click and click Address For Objects.
  3. Create a new row for addresses (F3) and enter the following details:

  1. Save your changes.
  2. Open the Retrieve Object Map Positions window. Query for XX2122.40, Pulp Pump 4 where XX is your initials.
  3. In the Import Configuration group of fields, select the following values for the fields indicated in the table below:

  1. Click Retrieve Positions.
  2. Open the Functional Object window and query for the equipment object in this exercise.
  3. Click Attachments and click Map Positions.
  4. Click View Large Map and click on the position object. Observe that the equipment object has been positioned at the location specified by you.
