Create Position Object—Exercises
Basic Data Setup
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enable the
virtual map service for a business object.
Windows:
Object Connections
- Open the
Object Connections window.
- On the row for the required object, ActiveSeparate, in the Service List column add VrtMapPosition^.
- Save your changes.
Required Data
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the
required data that is used in the exercises below.

- Create new work orders (F5).

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the
required data that is used in the exercises below.
Windows:
Map Settings
- Open the Virtual Map Settings window.
- Click Auto-Configure.
- In the Configuration field, select ActiveSeparate.
- Click the Search Source tab and in the Search
Source field, select Work Order.
- Save your changes
- In the Information Box field on the Information
tab, select Detail.
- In the Editor field, click once at the end of the html code.
- Select Planned Completion in the Available Fields list and
click Name and Value >>. In the Preview field observe that the
Planned Completion has been added as the last field.
- In the Editor field, click once at the end of the html and then
click Line Break >>.
- Click WO No and then click IFS Link >>.
- Click the Icon tab and click
Change Icon.
Select a different icon from the available list. Click OK.
- In the Icon field, move the icon relative to the axis provided.
Observe that the values for the Horizontal Offset and Vertical
Offset have changed accordingly.
- Change the values for the Height and Width fields, if
required.
- Click the Alerts tab and click Add Alert.
- Click the Change Image link and select an image apart from
the default image. Click OK.
- Click Add Criteria. Select the following values in the given
fields:

- Click the Routes tab.
- Select the Enable Routes check box.
- In the Type of Route list, click Draw along Roads.
- In the Arrow Direction Field list, click Planned Start.
- In the Arrow Direction list, click Ascending.
- In the Field list under Group By, click Planned Start.
- Click Add Color Criterion. Select the following values in the
given fields

- Save your changes.
Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a
position object on the Virtual Map which will be connected to a business object.
Windows:
Prepare Work Order
(Note: Only available in IFS Enterprise Explorer)
- Open the
Prepare Work Order window and query for the work
order
created in the required data exercise.
- In the Completion field enter a day prior to today.
- On the Attachments Panel click Map Positions.
- Right click on the table and click Add Position. Enter the
longitude and latitude of the business object. Right click and click Save Changes.
or
- Alternatively, right click and click View Map view and click Add Position at the required position on the map.
- Right click and click View Large Map.
- Observe that the position object has the alert icon defined in the
previous exercise.
- Click on the position object and observe that the detail
information display has the fields defined in the previous exercise.
