Isolation and Permit Planning—Key Exercises

Basic Data Setup

Isolation and Permit connection

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

Windows:
Work Order and PM Basic Data
Isolation Types
Work Order and PM Basic Data
Allowed Connections Permit/Isolation

  1. Open the Work Order and PM Basic Data window and click the Isolation Types tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. Enter ISOLATE_PUMP as the isolation type and a suitable description in the Description field.
  4. Save the new record (F12).
  5. Next click the Allowed Connections Permit/Isolation tab and create a new record (F5).
  6. Enter WPT as the permit type and ISOLATE_PUMP as the isolation type using the List of Values.
  7. Enter 1 in the No. of Connections field.
  8. Save the new record (F12).

Required Data

Create Work Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

Windows:
Prepare Work Order

  1. Create a new work order with the following values:
    Field Value
    Start date = current date; time = 09.00
    Completion date = current date; time = 11.00
    Execution Time 2
  2. Save the changes (F12).

Note: Make a note of the work order number you created, as it will be used later in this exercise.

Create Permit

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

Windows:
Permit

  1. Create a new Permit with the following values:
    Field Value
    Valid From date = current date; time = 09.00
    Valid To End date = current date; time = 11.00
  2. Save the changes (F12)

Note: Make a note of the permit sequence you created, as it will be used later in this exercise.

Create Isolation Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

Windows:
Isolation Order

  1. Create a new isolation order with the following values:
    Field Value
    Planned Start Establishment date = current date; time = 08.00
    Planned Completion Establishment date = current date; time = 09.00
    Planned Start Reestablishment date = current date; time = 11.00
    Planned Completion Reestablishment date = current date; time = 12.00
  2. Save the new record (F12).

Note: Make a note of the isolation order number you created, as it will be used later in this exercise.

Connect Permit to Work Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

Windows:
Permit
Prepare Work Order

  1. Open the Permit window and query for the permit you created in the previous exercises (F3).
  2. Click the Isolation Order tab and create a new record (F5).
  3. Enter the identity of the isolation order you created in the above exercises and save the information (F12).
  4. Next open the Prepare Work Order window and query for the work order you created in the previous exercises.
  5. Click the Permits tab.
  6. Right-click and click Connect Permit. Enter the permit sequence of the permit you previously created in the dialog box that appears and click OK.
  7. Alternatively you can create a new record on the Permit tab (F5), enter the permit sequence and save the information (F12).

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to show how to graphically view and reschedule isolation orders, permits and work orders.

Windows:
Isolation and Permit Planning

View Isolation Orders, Permits and Work Orders

  1. Open the Isolation and Permit Planning window.
  2. Open the query dialog box (F3).
  3. Enter the identity of the isolation order that you created previously.
  4. Click OK.

Note: Now the earlier created Isolation Order, Permit and Work Order should be displayed in a Gantt schema and the arrows should depict the connections made. Only the work that is connected to the queried Isolation Order will be displayed.

Rescheduling

To re-schedule:

  1. Double-click the Isolation Order node.
  2. Modify the dates so that the isolation order will be planned one day ahead in time.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Save the changed data (F12).
