Design Object

Creating a Consists of and Belongs to Design Part Structure

  1. Open Design Part window and search for the design part with design part ID 10600010.
  2. Click the Consists of tab.
  3. Click New.
  4. In the Sort Order field, enter 1.
  5. In the Consists of Design Part ID field, enter 10600013.
  6. In the Quantity field, enter 1. The default value is 1.
  7. In the Purchase Quantity field, enter 1. The default value is 1.
  8. Repeat steps 3-8 entering the following values:
Sort Order Consists of Design Part ID Quantity Purchase Quantity
2 10520001 2 2
3 10520002 1 1
  1. Click Save.

Connecting Additional Parts to a Design Object

  1. Open the Design Object window and search for the design object, PM-312-PA-009.
  2. Click the Additional Parts tab.
  3. Click New.
  4. In the Design Part ID field, enter 10520003.
  5. By default, the values for the Spare Part Qty and Purchase Qty fields are set to 1. Leave these values, as is.
  6. Repeat steps 2-4 to enter an additional part with design part ID, 10600021, spare part qty and purchase qty, 1.
  7. Click Save.

Note: If the additional part has an Unavailable status, a system prompt displays up asking if you want to add this additional part. Clicking Yes adds the Unavailable additional part, whereas clicking No does not add the Unavailable additional part

Inheriting Additional Parts from a Design Part

  1. Open the Design Object window and search for the design object, PM-312-PA-009.
  2. Right click and click Inherit Additional Parts from Design Part. The Inherit Additional Parts dialog box opens. A warning message appears warning you that the additional parts on the object will be removed and replaced with the additional parts defined for the connected design part.
  3. Click OK to inherit.
  4. Click the Additional Parts tab. Observe that the additional parts connected in the previous exercise, 10520003 and 10600021, have been replaced with the consists of parts for the design part, 10600010.
