Connecting a Design Part to a Design Object
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to connect a design
part to an object.

- Connect the design part with design part ID, 10600010, to the design
object with object ID, PM-312-PA-009.

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to create a

- Open
Design Part window and search for the design part with design part ID
10600010.
- Click the Consists of tab.
- Click New.
- In the Sort Order field, enter 1.
- In the Consists of Design Part ID field,
enter 10600013.
- In the Quantity field, enter 1. The default value is 1.
- In the Purchase Quantity field, enter 1. The default value is 1.
- Repeat steps 3-8 entering the following values:

- Click Save.
- Open the Design Object window and search
for the design object, PM-312-PA-009.
- Click the
Additional Parts tab.
- Click New.
- In the Design Part ID field, enter 10520003.
- By default, the values for the Spare Part Qty and Purchase
Qty fields are set to 1. Leave these values, as is.
- Repeat steps 2-4 to enter an additional part with design part ID,
10600021, spare part qty and purchase qty, 1.
- Click Save.
Note: If the additional part has an Unavailable status, a system prompt
displays up asking if you want to add this additional part. Clicking Yes adds the
Unavailable additional part, whereas clicking No does not add the
Unavailable additional part
- Open the Design Object window and search
for the design object, PM-312-PA-009.
- Right click and click Inherit Additional Parts from
Design Part. The Inherit Additional Parts
dialog box opens. A warning message appears warning you that the additional parts on the
object will be removed and replaced with the additional parts defined for
the connected design part.
- Click OK to inherit.
- Click the
Additional Parts tab. Observe that
the additional parts connected in the previous exercise, 10520003 and
10600021, have been replaced with the consists of parts for the design part,
10600010.
