Defining a Plant

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to define a plant to which design objects will belong.

  1. Create a plant, CompanyName_plant (where CompanyName is the name of your company or similar), if you have not created it already.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a design object class to which the design objects will belong.

  1. Create a PUMP CENTRIFUGAL class, if you have not created it already.

Creating ID Models and Connecting to Classes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create an ID Model and connect it to a design object class, so that objects created from the design object class can have object IDs registered using the connected ID model.

  1. Set up the ID fields for an object ID as follows and connect the ID model to the pump centrifugal design object class.

Creating ID Separators for Classes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create ID separators and connect it to a design object class, so that the object IDs of objects created from the design object class will display the connected ID separator.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to create a design object.

Creating a Design Object

  1. Open the Design Object or Design Objects window.
  2. Click New.
  3. In the Plant field, select the Plant for the design object from the List of Values. If a user default plant has been specified, the name of this plant will be suggested at new entry. 
  4. In the Class field, select the Pump Centrifugal class from the List of Values.
  5. In the Object ID field, double-click in the field and enter the following values for the ID model categories of the selected class.

    Facility Code PM
    System 312
    Type Code PA
    Sequence No. 007
  6. In the Description field, enter Fresh Water Feed Pump.
  7. Click Save
  8. The system automatically filled in values for these fields:
  9. From the Business Object Explorer, expand the tree view displaying All Design Object Classes.
  10. Expand the Pump Centrifugal node.
  11. Highlight pump object PM-312-PA-007 to view the newly created object on the Design Object window.
