Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to connect a technical class to a design object and design part, define values for technical attributes and approve the technical specification on design objects and design parts. Note: The technical class connection to a design object or design part is generally done via the Connect Technical Class to Design Object or Design Part Class basic data exercise as above but in certain situations can be performed via the Connecting a Technical Class to a Design Object and Design Part exercise below. This technical class definition overrides the technical class definition on the design object or design part class, if any.

Connecting a Technical Class to a Design Object and Design Part

  1. Open the Design Object window and search for the object you created in the basic data exercise above.
  2. Click the Requirements tab.
  3. Create a new record.
  4. In the Technical Class field, enter the technical class to be connected. Use the List of Values to select a suitable technical class.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 on the Design Part window for the design part you created in the basic data exercise above

Defining Values on Technical Attributes

  1. Open the Design Object window and search for the object you created in the basic data exercise above.
  2. Click Attachments and then click Characteristics. Technical attributes for which values can be entered will be displayed.
  3. Enter values for the technical attributes as required, right-click and click Save Attributes. Note: This method of adding attributes and values ensures that the technical characteristic changes made will be specific to a particular design object or design part record only.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 on the Design Part window for the design part you created in the basic data exercise above.

Changing Technical Specification Status

  1. Open the Design Object window and search for the object you created in the basic data exercise above.
