Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a design object class to which the design objects will belong.

Creating ID Models and Connect to Classes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create an ID Model and connect it to a design object class, so that objects created from the design object class can have Object IDs registered using the connected ID Model.

  1. Set up the ID fields for an object ID and connect the ID Model to a relevant design object class.

Creating ID Separators for Classes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create ID separators and connect it to a design object class, so that the Object IDs of objects created from the design object class will display the connected ID Separator.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to create a design part with basic information.

Creating a Design Part

  1. Open the Design Part window.
  2. Click New
  3. In the Standard field, use the List of Values to select IFS_Main. 
  4. In the Class field, use the List of Values to select the PUMP CENTRIFUGAL class. 
  5. In the Design Part ID field, enter 10600060.
  6. In the Description field, enter Pump Centrifugal.
  7. Click Save.
  8. On the General tab, accept the default values for the unit code and site.
  9. In the Supplier field, use the List of Values to select and insert ABB Automation AB.
  10. In the Manufacturer field, use the List of Values to select and insert Applied Materials.
  11. Click Save to create the design part.

Creating a New Version of a Design Part

  1. Open the Design Part window and query for the design part with ID: 10600060 which you created in the previous exercise.
  2. Right-click and click Create New Version. The new version, 2, is displayed. The Latest Version check box is selected for this version.
  3. Navigate to version 1. The Latest Version check box has been cleared for this version.

Changing the Design Part Status

  1. Open the Design Part window and query for the design part with ID:10600060, Version: 1.
  2. Right-click, click Status and then click Unavailable.
