Basic Data Setup

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you are logged in as applications owner SAMI when entering the required data in the Human Resources executable.

Required Data

Create a Work Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a work order (you will later plan operation and report time on the work order).

Windows:
Prepare Work Order

  1. Open the Prepare Work Order window.
  2. Enter your employee's signature in the Reported By field and a short description of the problem in the Directive field.
  3. In the Maint. Org. field, enter 1500 Construction department (the same maintenance organization as for the employee. 
  4. Save the record.

Main Exercises

Verify Employee Available Time

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to verify the resource graph.

Windows:
Load Distribution by Employee

  1. Log on the Maintenance executable.
  2. Open the Parameters for Employee Resources dialog.
  3. Enter a signature ID for the previously connected employee and click OK.
  4. Verify the that the resource graph displays available time.

Enter Absence in Time Management

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to report absence in time management.

Windows:
Time Registration

  1. Log on the Human Resource executable.
  2. Open the Time Registration window.
  3. Click Query Dialog (F3) and search for the employee No.
  4. Select the first Wage Code line and click New (F5).
  5. In the Wage Code field, select 600 Vacation (Wage Type: absence). Use List of Values (F8). 
  6. Enter 8 hours in the Monday field and 4 hours in the Tuesday field. 
  7. Save the record (F12).

Verify Reported Absence in Employee Resources

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to verify absence in the resource graph.

Windows:
Load Distribution by Employee

  1. Open the Parameters for Employee Resources window again, and search for the employee signature.
  2. Verify that the employee has now reduced available time on Monday and Tuesday.

Allocate the Employee as Craft on the Work Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to get allocated time in the resource graph.

Windows:
Prepare Work Order

  1. Open the Prepare Work Order, click the Operations tab, then click New.
  2. Tab to the Description field and enter a description.
  3. Enter your employee's signature in the Signature field, and enter 8 hours in the Allocated Hours field.
  4. Tab to the Planned Start field and enter the date for the Wednesday, and a start time of 8 in the morning.
  5. Tab to the Planned Finish field, and enter the date for the Wednesday and an end time of 5 in the afternoon. 
  6. Save the record.

Verify Allocated Time in Employee Resources

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to verify allocated time in the resource graph.

Windows:
Load Distribution by Employee

  1. Open the Parameters for Employee Resources window again and search for the employee signature.
  2. Verify that the employee now has 8 hours allocated time on Wednesday.

Report Time on Work Order in Time Management

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how time management interacts with work orders.

Windows:
Time Registration

  1. Open the Time Registration window, click Work Order.
  2. Select an appropriate work order using the List of Values.
  3. Enter 8 hours in the Wednesday field.
  4. Save the record.

Verify Reported Time on Work Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how time management interacts with work orders.

Windows:
Report In Work Order

  1. Open the Report In Work Order window and click the Time Report tab.
  2. Verify the created time report line.
  3. Create a new line in the Time Report tab and enter 4 hours for Thursday.
  4. Save the record.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how time management interacts with work orders.

  1. Open the Time Management Time Registration window.
  2. Populate, and verify that 4 hours are listed for Thursday.
