Using Shipment Locations—Exercises

IMPORTANT
If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create stored sales parts and receive them into inventory in order to use them as complementary parts. 

Enter Customer

Windows:
Customer

  1. Enter C.S.C. Oslo as customer with XX1001 as Customer No.
  2. Enter C.S.C. Paris as customer with XX1002 as Customer No.

Create Stored Sales Parts

Windows:

  1. Enter Street Car as Stored Sales Part with XX18-300 as Sales Part No.
  2. Enter Race Car as Stored Sales Part with XX18-100 as Sales Part No.
  3. Create relevant Inventory Locations.
  4. Receive a sufficient number of parts of each into stock.

Create Shipment Type

Windows:
Sales Basic Data
Site

  1. Open the Sales Basic Data window and click the Shipment Types tab.
  2. Create a shipment type XX, with a stop after each event.
  3. Open the Site window and click the Distribution tab.
  4. Enter the shipment type you just created. This will be the default value on all your customer orders and shipments.

Required Data

Entering Customer Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

  1. Make sure that you have at least two Shipment Locations available for dispatching goods. Create new ones if needed.
  2. Enter a customer order with C.S.C. Oslo (XX1001) as customer and wanted delivery date in a month's time. The order type should be STA, and you should use your User ID as the coordinator. Note the order number: __________.
  3. Enter an order line with 10 pcs of the sales part Street Car (XX18-300).

  4. Release the order.

  5. Reserve the customer order, create and print the pick list.

  6. Enter a customer order with C.S.C. Paris (XX1002) as customer and wanted delivery date in a month's time. The order type should be STA, and you should use your User ID as the coordinator. Note the order number: __________.

  7. Enter an order line with 5 pcs of the sales part Race Car (XX18-100).

  8. Release the order.

  9. Reserve the customer order, create and print the pick list.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to place sold parts in a shipment location while awaiting transportation and change shipment location. Also to place sold parts in a shipment location, return some of them into inventory stock, and scrap the remaining parts.

Use Shipment Location, Awaiting Pick Up

  1. Report the picked parts without deviation in the Report Picking of Pick Lists window (C.S.C. Oslo).

  2. Receive the parts into a shipment location. Check in the List of Values if there are any more shipment locations available.

  3. Move the parts from the first shipment location to another by selecting Move Parts from the Operations menu in the Handle Orders in Shipment Inventory window.

Use Shipment Location, Return to Inventory and Scrap

  1. Report the picked parts without deviation in the Report Picking of Pick Lists window (C.S.C. Paris).
  2. Receive the parts into a shipment location.
  3. Open the Handle Orders in Shipment Inventory window and search for the customer order delivered into shipment inventory.
  4. Return two of the Street Cars to an inventory location by selecting Return Parts from the Operations menu.
  5. Scrap the remaining parts by selecting Scrap Parts from the Operations menu and indicate the reason for the scrapping.

Use Shipment Location together with Shipment

Handle Orders in Shipment Inventory Note: To perform this exercise you need the same basic and required data as above but you only need one customer order and you should stop after releasing the order and continue according to below.

  1. Open the shipment window and create a new shipment for the customer C.S.C. Oslo (XX1001)

  2. Click the Available Order Lines tab and search for your order number

  3. Select the order and connect it to the shipment by right click, then click Connect to Shipment

  4. Open the General tab and enter a Shipment Inventory Location, save

  5. Reserve and picked report your shipment without deviations. The parts are now placed in the shipment inventory awaiting delivery.

  6. You can view and work with your orders in the shipment inventory in the window Handle Orders in Shipment Inventory

Note 1: If you for any reason want to change the default shipment inventory you can do that by using the Report Picking of Pick List Lines option.

Note 2: You can enter a default shipment location to use in the shipment per supply chain relation or site.

Note 3: You can also control whether or not to use shipment inventory in the shipment via the shipment type.
