Shipment Types—Basic Data and Requirements Exercise

IMPORTANT

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the basic functionality of defining shipment types.

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown.

IFS Racing has a shipment process where the only events to be executed manually are pick reporting and delivery. In addition, at pick reporting, the handling unit structure should be generated and handling unit labels for these structures should be printed automatically. At delivery of the shipment, a consignment note and a delivery note should be printed automatically. Shipment inventory should be used.

  1. Open the Sales Basic Data/Shipment Types tab.
  2. Select New (F5).
  3. Enter XXF in the Shipment Type field.
  4. Enter the description, XX Shipment Process.
  5. Select Save (F12).
  6. In order to manually do report picking, the event before this event should have the Stop After check box selected.
  7. In order to manually do the delivery, the event before this event should have the Stop After check box selected.
  8. The rest of the events should have the Stop After check box cleared.
  9. In the lower table, connect the optional events to be triggered at report picking i.e., Pack into Handling Unit and Print Handling Unit Labels.
  10. In the lower table, connect the optional events to be triggered at delivery i.e., Print Consignment Note and Print Shipment Delivery Note.
  11. Click on the Shipment Control tab and select the Use Shipment Inventory check box.
  12. Select Save (F12).
