Required Data

Enter Transportation Hazard Class

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to enter the basic data needed for using dangerous goods classification.

Windows:
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data/Transportation Hazard Class
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data/Packaging Group
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data/Tunnel Code
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data/Proper Shipping Name
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data/Additional Shipping Description
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data/Transport Limited Quantity
Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data/Transportation Hazard Comment

  1. Open the Dangerous Goods Classification Basic Data window and click the Transportation Hazard Class tab.
  2. Populate the tab to view the existing Transportation Hazard Classes. Decide if the existing classes fit your needs. Add one or more Transportation Hazard Classes, if needed, following steps 3–8 below.

Note: If the existing classes are appropriate, you can optionally complete the following steps to understand the process of adding Transportation Hazard Classes, and then delete the new class record(s). Once a part record is linked to a Transport Hazard Class, the Transportation Hazard Class cannot be deleted. If multiple people using the same database enter their own Transportation Hazard Classes, a large number of unnecessary Transportation Hazard Classes could soon accumulate.

For Packaging Group and Tunnel Code you will do the same exercise. For the other parameters Proper Shipping Name, Packaging Material, Additional Shipping Description, Transport Limited Quantity and Transportation Hazard Comment you will only follow steps 3-7 below.

  1. Create a new record.
  2. Using no more than 10 alphanumeric characters enter a transport hazard class in the Hazard Class field.
  3. Enter an appropriate description in the Description field.
  4. Save the record.
  5. Repeat steps 3–8 to enter additional transportation hazard classes, if necessary.

Note: If you are doing this exercise only to understand the process, remember to delete your record.
