IMPORTANT |
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain you data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site. |
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create the parts to be consumed when executing a repair work scope connected to a service type.
Windows:
Inventory Part
Note: If you have not yet already done so, create the following:

General exercise for Purchased Inventory Part
Purpose: Repair codes are a way of grouping standard jobs for the work order and material and/or operations for repair shop order. The purpose of this exercise is to define the repair codes which will be used to define the work scope for service type connected to a repair part.
Windows:
Repair Setup Basic Data/Repair Code
Note: If you have not yet already done so, create the following:
Repair Code | Repair Description |
XX-RCCS-1 | Cleaning, Chain Saw 187 |
XX-RCCS-2 | Fuel System, Chain Saw 187 |
XX-RCCS-3 | Chain Brake, Chain Saw 187 |
General exercise for Repair Code
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to connect the repair codes to a repair part in order to make it possible to connect them to the part’s service types.
Windows:
Repair Setup Basic Data/Repair Code Part
Note: If you have not yet already done so, create the
following:
Repair Code | Part Number |
XX-RCCS-1 | XX-187-CS |
XX-RCCS-2 | XX-187-CS |
XX-RCCS-3 | XX-187-CS |
General exercise for Define Services and Pricing
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to define a repair structure. The repair structure represents a union of all extra material needed when performing repair work (consumables, tools, etc.) for a given part. The repair structures are later used as a basis for creating repair code structures, which are subsets of extra material for a specific repair code.
Windows:
Product Structure
Note: If you have not yet already done so, create the following:
Inventory Part | Description | Quantity |
XX-1-AF | Air Filter 187 (pcs) | 1 (pcs) |
XX-2-O | Casat Universal Cleanser 98 (liter) | 0,5 (liter) |
XX-3-FF | Fuel Filter 187 (pcs) | 1 (pcs) |
XX-4-O | Casat Fuel Cleanser 99 (liter) | 1 (liter) |
XX-5-SP | Spark Plug 9 (pcs) | 1 (pcs) |
XX-6-SA | Spark Arrester (pcs) | 1 (pcs) |
XX-7-AFL | Assy-Front Link (pcs) | 1 (pcs) |

XX-9-BB | Band Break (pcs) | 1 (pcs) |
XX-10-SH | Spring-Hand Guard (pcs) | 1 (pcs) |
XX-11-PBA | Pin-Bar Adjusting (pcs) | 3 (pcs) |
Note: The inventory part revision must be in line with the phase-in date for the product structure.
General exercise for Setting Up Basic Data in Manufacturing Standards
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create work centers in the repair shop where the repair work scope can be preformed for a repair part. A work center can represent a machine, a department, a specific operator, or an operator group required to be able to execute the work scope for a part.
Windows:
Work Center
Note: If you already have appropriate work centers, use them instead.
Site | Work Center | Description | Work Center Code | Work Center Cost per Hour | Overhead 1 | Overhead 1 Unit | Overhead 2 | Overhead 2 Unit |
Your site | XX-17 | Chain Saw Repair Shop | Internal work center | 500 | 100 | Hour | 0 | Hour |
Your site | XX-18 | Testing | Internal work center | 200 | 50 | Hour | 0 | Hour |
General exercise for Setting up Work Centers, Production Lines, Labor Classes, and Manufacturing Tools
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create the labor classes which will perform the work scope for the part. Different labor classes could be needed to divide employees into groups. One group could be responsible for the performance of the service, while another could handle functional testing of the part after completion.
Windows:
Manufacturing Labor Class
Note: If you already have an appropriate labor class, use that one instead.
Site | Labor Class | Labor Class Description | Labor Class Rate | Overhead | Overhead Unit |
Your site | XX-18L | Repair Shop Worker, Chain Saw 187 | 300 | 150 | Hour |
General exercise for Setting up Work Centers, Production Lines, Labor Classes, and Manufacturing Tools
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to define repair routings. The repair routings are later used as a basis for creating repair code routings, which are subsets of operations for a specific repair code.
Windows:
Routing
Note: If you have not yet already done so, create the following:
Operation | Operation Description | Work Center | Machine Setup Times | Machine Run | Labor Class | Labor Setup Times | Labor Run Factors |
