Measurements—Key Exercises
Basic Data Setup
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set
up the object level that will be used for measurements on an equipment object. Once
equipment object information is defined, object levels are associated with objects
to represent their actual hierarchical position in the structure.

- Create a new object level that allows serial objects to be connected to
it.

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to show you how to enter measurement
information that you need when working with equipment objects.

Note: If you have completed the Object Information—Key
Exercises, you can skip this exercise and continue with the Test Points and Parameters
exercise below.
- Open the
Equipment Object Navigator
window and query for the functional object
PM-312-PA-101 Pulp Pump 1.
- Select the PM-312-PA-101 Pulp Pump 1 object in the tree view.
- See that this object can be viewed as Selected Object in the
Summary tab
to the right.
- Select the
Functional Object tab.
- Click the
General
tab.
- Use the List of Values to select APP20-300 as the type designation and
100 Pumps as the object type for the Pumps, if this has not already
been done.
- Enter 13 Mechanical as the category and 50 paper machine 1 as the
group ID.
- Enter the room/position description.
- Select an appropriate cost center using the List of Values.
- Specify that this Pump
is manufactured by GE
General Electric and supplied by ABB Automation AB.
- Save your changes (F12).
Note: IFS Racing focuses on preventive maintenance.
Management has decided to monitor your PM-312-PA-101
Pulp Pump 1. It is your job to
enter the appropriate test points and parameters.
- Open the
Functional Object
window, and click the
Testpoints/Parameters tab.
- Enter
an optional test point and description. Specify where this test point on the
equipment object is located.
- If you enter test point values on this tab, you can link them to
parameters. In this
case, vibration parameter will be used as the criterion for
generating work orders.
Note: New parameters are entered in
the
Maintenance
Basic Data window.
- You can
specify whether a parameter will be used as a criterion in IFS/Preventive
Maintenance (PM). If Yes is selected in the Criterion field, the criteria must be defined
for separate or route PM action.
