Basic Data Setup

Employee Induction Program

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

  2. View the employee's education and experience.
  3. View the personality and physical characteristics.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to guide you through the basic employee development process: plan a counseling session, and prepare for it by performing an employee self-assessment and a competency gap analysis. You will also learn how to document the outcome of the session in an employee development program.

Employee Induction Program

  1. Open the Employee Induction Program window.
  2. Enter a new record and register an employee by using the List of Values. 
  3. The activities that are mandatory will show by default.
  4. Enter your previously defined induction activity.
  5. Save the information

Plan Counseling Session

  1. Open Counseling Plan and populate the window.
  2. Use your user ID as counselor.
  3. Select your employees using the List of Values. Enter a counseling date for the first of your employees. Enter today’s date as the planned date.
  4. Save the information
  5. Open the Employees Counseling Plans window.
  6. Set today’s date as the query date. Select yourself  with a query, by entering your user's name in the Superior Name field. Click OK.
  7. The employee has to login as him/herself and open the Employee Development Program/Counseling Plan window.
  8. Enter today’s date as the actual date, optional note and then save the information.
  9. Right-click, and then click confirm.
  10. Open Counseling Plan and select your user ID as counselor from the List of Values. The employee will now show in the lower part of the window.

Note: The defined counseling dates will automatically be transferred to the Employee Development Program/Counseling Plan window.

Employee Self-Assessment

  1. Open Employee Self Assessment and populate the window.
  2. Select the first of your employees. 
  3. View the gaps, showing the employee’s strengths and development areas in comparison to his or her job.
  4. Enter Project Management as a strength in the lower part of the window.
  5. Enter an optional area of interest in the tab with the corresponding name.
  6. Save the information.

Competency Gap Analysis

  1. Open the Competency Gap Analysis window
  2. Select Alain Prost (1002) or one of your employees with a query.
  3. Open the Job tab and select the Job ID: HRMGR, Manager of Human Resources.
  4. View the gaps and identify in which areas development is needed.

Employee Strategic Files

  1. Open the Employee Strategic Files window.
  2. Select one of your employees with a query.
  3. Enter information in all the tabs.

Employee Development Program

  1. Open Employee Development Program and populate the window.
  2. Select your first employee.
  3. View the information in the Strengths, Development Area, and Area of Interest tabs. 
  4. Enter another development area and area of interest in the lower part of the window. Select new and save the information.
  5. Enter optional courses in the Training Development tab (in the Note fields). Enter recommended last date and indicate that the training is requested by yourself.
  6. Enter an optional education scholarship, job rotation, and special assignment. 
  7. Click the Counseling Plan tab and enter the actual date on which the review was performed. Note agreements made during the review. Inform the employee that the development program is updated and make sure that the employee confirms the development program. The employee has to login as him/her self. This is the only window where the employee can confirm his/her development program. 
  8. Save the information.
  9. Open the Counseling Plan window. Select your counselor ID with a query.
  10. Verify that you have performed a development review with your first employee.
  11. Select the first employee, right-click, and then click Development Program. View the program.

Note: When the status of an education scholarship is set to Completed, the /Education tab will automatically be updated with the new information.

Development Review Reports

  1. Open the Employee Development Program window.
  2. Select your first employee with a query.
  3. Right-click and then click Employee Training and Development Report.
  4. Click OK in the Report Order window. Then click Preview.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3, but select Employee Self Assessment Report.
