Creating a Project Product Structure—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Part Classes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create some part classes for the new engineering parts to be created in the next exercise below.

Adding a New Part to the Project Product Structure

  1. Open the Project Product window and query for your project XXPD-01.
  2. On the Items tab, create a new record.
  3. In the Part Number field, enter 20–10XX (Engine 1600) or select it from the List of Values.
  4. In the Part Revision field, enter R01.
  5. In the MPL Part list, click Demand.
  6. Check the value of the Provide Code field. Modify this value, if required.
  7. Save your changes.

Registering the Delivery Project's Top Part

  1. Open the Delivery Projects window and query for your project XXPD-01.
  2. In the Top Part No field, enter part 20–10XX (Engine 1600) to register the top part.
  3. In the Top Part Revision field, enter R01
  4. Save your changes.

Adding Standard Parts into the Structure
