Basic Data Setup

Product Basic Data

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

Windows:
Product Basic Data

  1. Enter a standard name in Std. Name Lang.
  2. Check values in Defaults.

Create Engineering Part

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter new engineering parts. When using the PDM module, parts are added to the PDM environment for use in the development stage. But use the query-functionality to ensure no duplication.

  1. The part number can be automatically allocated in a sequence if left empty, or it can be entered manually. In this exercise you should enter the part number manually.
  2. Create parts as shown in the table below.

Approval Routing

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter persons who are going to verify the part before it can be released. It is possible to copy an approval template (defined in basic data), or if no applicable template exists, you can manually enter the appropriate persons. It is also possible to modify the approval steps after having copied an approval template.

Windows:
Engineering Part Revisions/Approval Process

  1. Enter an approval routing to your top part (the manufactured part) by choosing Copy Approval Profile from the right mouse button menu. Use the approval profile you entered in the basic data.
  2. Change it by deleting one of the approvers and add a new one. But if you are going to approve the step, remember to add an approver with your user ID in Route Sign.

Document Requirements

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter document requirements. It is possible to copy document requirements (profile defined in basic data), or if no applicable profile exists, enter the appropriate document classes. It is also possible to modify the document classes after having copied a profile.

Windows:
Engineering Part Revisions/Document Req.

  1. Enter a document requirement profile to your top part revision by choosing Copy Document Requirements from the right mouse button options in the Document Requirements tab. Use the document requirement profile you entered in the basic data.

Part - General

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter detailed information about the Engineering part. Information entered in the Engineering Parts window can be viewed in the Part window.

  1. Here you will find information regarding Standard Name ID and Unit Code.

Part - Engineering

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter detailed information about the Engineering part. Information entered in the Engineering Parts window can be viewed in the Part window.
