Replace Revision
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to replace one part revision that is used in
a structure
with a different one by using the Replace Part/Revision wizard.
Note: Take a look at the setting for
the REPLACE_REVISION parameter on the
Defaults tab of the
Product Basic Data
window.
This parameter determines which parts can be replaced. Refer to the documentation for more information.
Windows:
Engineering Part Revision/Revision
- Open the
Engineering
Part Revision window and click the
Revision
tab.
- Select the part revision to be replaced. This must be a part used in a structure.
Tip: Click the
Consists Of
tab of the
Engineering Part Revision
window and start with your top part. Then right-click and click Next
Level until you find a suitable part.
- On the
Revision
tab, right-click and then click Replace Part/Revision. The
Replace Part/Revision
wizard opens. If the part has
alternate parts, as defined on the
Alternate Parts
tab of the
Part window, you can replace the part only with a
part revision that has been entered on that tab. The List of Values shows only available
alternate parts. If no alternate parts exist, all parts will be
listed.
- From the table that lists where the part is used, select the structures in which you would like to replace the part.
Note: The system will use the REPLACE_REVISION parameter with the
status of the replacing part to determine which parents are listed in the
table.
-
Click Next.
- In the Journal field, enter notes about the replacement, for
example, why you replaced the existing revision.
- Click Finish to update the selected structures
with the new part revision.
- Try different parts/statuses in step 1 and see which parts are listed in
step 2.
