  1. Create the following classes: e.g. motor dc design object class, pump centrifugal design object class, MC package design object class, and a switchgear compartment class.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create class relations.

  1. Create Class Relations with the values defined in the table rows for the columns (fields) defined below:

MOTOR DC can be included in MC Package MC PACKAGE

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a design object.

  1. Create design objects for the following classes to use in the exercises to come:

    MOTOR DC MD
    PUMP CENTRIFUGAL PC
    MC PACKAGE MCP
    SWITCHGEAR COMPARTMENT SC

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to create connections between design objects.

Windows:

Creating Design Object Connections

  1. Open the Design Object window and query for the design object MD. 
  2. Click the Object Connections tab and click New.
  3. In the Sort Order field, enter 1.
  4. In the Connected Object field, enter PC.
  5. In the Object Connection Description field, use the List of Values to select the relation type with the Drives relation description.
  6. Click New.
  7. In the Sort Order field, enter 2.
  8. In the Connected Object field, enter MCP.
  9. In the Object Connection Description field, use the List of Values to select the relation type with the Included in MC Package relation description.
  10. Click New.
  11. In the Sort Order field, enter 2.
  12. In the Connected Object field, enter SC.
  13. In the Object Connection Description field, use the List of Values to select the relation type with the Is triggered by relation description.
  14. Click Save.
  15. On the Business Object Explorer Tree View, locate and navigate to the design object MD.
  16. Expand the object node, and expand the Object Connections folder. 
  17. Observe that the object connections are displayed as follows:
