Releasing Document Surveys—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to release document surveys connected to project items.

Releasing Document Surveys Connected to Project Items

  1. Open the Project Item window.
  2. Query for your project XXPD–01 and part 20–10XX (Engine 1600).
  3. Click the Total Doc. Req. tab.
  4. Review the document requirement connected for part 20–10XX.
  5. Click the Total Doc. Survey tab.
  6. Review the document connected for part 20–10XX.
  7. Select the document, right-click, and then click Document Info. The Document Revision window appears.
  8. Verify that the status of the document is Preliminary.
  9. In the header portion of the window, right-click and then click Status Approve. A message appears regarding the approval of the document.
  10. Click Yes.
  11. In the header portion of the window, right-click and then click Status Release. The wizard for releasing a document appears.
  12. Click No when prompted to indicate whether you want to obsolete the document's old revisions. Then click Next to go to the second wizard window. Note that the wizard skips the second step when No is clicked, i.e., it goes directly to the third step.
  13. Select the Replace check box corresponding to an Object Type engineering part revision and with an instance description pertaining to part 20–10XX. Then click Next.
  14. Click All and then Finish. The wizard automatically closes and returns you to the Document Revision window.
  15. Verify that the document has the Released status.
