Basic Data Setup 

Maintenance Organization

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the basic data required for the following exercises.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the basic data record priorities required when creating a service request.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to create a fault report with all required data and some standard fault report codes, and to create a work request with all its required data.

Create Fault Report

Note: Suppose that you are working as an operator of a part of the plant. Suddenly, you hear strange noises coming from the pump, and it seems to be an urgent problem. You decide to make a fault report.

  1. Open the Fault Report window.
  2. Use the New button or (F5) to create a new record.
  3. Enter the reporting person using the List of Values (F8).
  4. In the Directive field, enter the appropriate information about the PM-312-PA-001 Pulp Pump 1.
  5. Select the appropriate maintenance organization to which this fault report will be addressed, using the List of Values (F8).
  6. In the Fault Description field, enter more detailed descriptions of the fault.
  7. Specify how the fault was discovered, the symptoms of the fault and the priority of the fault report in the Discovery, Symptom and Priority fields respectively. Use the List of Values to select suitable values (F8).
  8. Save the information (F12).

Note: After it is saved, the fault report receives a unique work order number. All information entered in the Fault Report window should be prepared in the Prepare Work Order window, where you can link further information to the work order. Right-click and then click Prepare to open this window.

Create Work Request

Note: For this exercise, assume that there have been frequent problems with the copy machine in the SD department at customer 3000 Pulp and Paper Mill.

  1. Open the Service Request window.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. Use the List of Values (F8) to find the appropriate object. 
  4. Select the appropriate maintenance organization to which this work request will be addressed, using the List of Values (F8). 
  5. In the Directive field, enter a brief description of the requested work.
  6. Enter the signature of the person who reported this work request using the List of Values (F8).
  7. Save the new work request (F12).
