- Enter a course specification for an advanced course in English. The course
ID should start with your initials.

- Create a new record and enter a trainer.
- Indicate that the trainer can teach the course you defined in the previous exercise.

Main Exercises
Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to show how
to register participants for training events in different ways: following a competency-based
approach, using the web, and using a waiting list.

Available Trainings (web)
- Enter a training event that can take a maximum of four participants. As a
minimum, the event will
include one course in advanced English.
- Register yourself as main trainer for this course.
- Register a room, agenda, and main trainer.
- Set the status to Publish.
- Click the
Participant tab and enter two external participants.
- Save the information.
Before you begin this exercise, you need to check a few things:
- The Job Specification/Competencies tab must indicate that the
job requires a Fluent competency level in the competency English.
- The employee must be connected to this job in the
Employee/Jobs tab.
- The employee should not have a competency level lower than
Fluent in English. As entered in
the Employee Strategic FilesCompetencies
tab, the competency level should be Above Average.
- The English Advanced course must support the Fluent competency level, as defined in the
Course Specification/Competency
Obtained tab.
Now to the exercise:
- Open the Competency Based Training window and select your
employee with a query.
- Select English as the competence, and the English Advanced course will show in the right part of the
window. Select it and
right-click to include it in the employee's training plan.
- Open the Employee Training Plan window and select your employee with a query. Since you have defined a training event including the
English Advanced course, you can now register your employee for this event
by right-clicking.
- Open the Available Trainings web page. On the Navigate menu,
click Course Catalog. Select one of the courses included in your training
event. Click Find Available Trainings on the Actions menu.
Select your training event.
- Open the Actions menu in your event and analyze the information in the agenda. View the participant list.
- Open a detailed view of a training event and go to the Actions menu for one of your courses and view the course specification, training room, and trainer.
- Go to the Actions menu and register for the training event.
- Open the
Training Event/Participant tab and register any participant. Since you already have
four persons registered, you will be asked to put the new participant on the waiting list.
Click Accept.
- Cancel one of your registered participants. Note the date in the Cancel
Date field.
- Select the person on the waiting list by right-clicking and register him
or her for the event.
