Basic Data Setup

Company

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up a company.

Windows:
Create Company Assistant

  1. Open the Create Company Assistant window.
  2. Create the company that should be associated with your sub contract, if it has not already been created.
  3. Alternatively to step 2, you can use Company 10.

General exercise for Company Setup

Site

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up a site and connect it to your user ID.

Windows:
Site
Sites per User

  1. Enter the site that should be associated with your sub contract, if it has not already been created.
  2. Alternatively to step 1, you can use site 1.
  3. Connect the site to your user ID.

General exercise for Site Setup

Contract Type

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to register a sub contract type.

Windows:
Sub Contract Basic Data/Contract Type

  1. Enter the contract type that should be associated with your sub contract, if it has not already been created.
  2. The contract type ID to use is XXINS, where XX are your initials. The description of the contract type is Installation.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The main purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create a sub contract header and enter general information for the sub contract. In the Initial Exercises we created a sub contract to handle the construction of a high-rise building. Here, we will create a sub contract to install a central air conditioning system for this high-rise building.

Creating Sub Contract Header

  1. Open the Sub Contract window.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Contract Name field, enter Central Air Conditioning.
  4. In the Contract Type field, enter XXINS, where XX are your initials. Use the List of Values to select the value.
  5. In the Company field, enter the company associated with the sub contract. Use the List of Values to select the value.
  6. In the Contract Reference field, enter XX9999, where XX are your initials and 9999 is any number. Entering a value in this field is optional.
  7. In the Contract Manager field, enter your person ID. Use the List of Values to select the value. Entering a value in this field is optional.
  8. In the Site field, enter the sub contract site XX1, where XX are your initials. Use the List of Values to select the value.
  9. Save the record (F12).

Entering Sub Contract General Information

  1. Open the Sub Contract window.
  2. Populate (F2) or query (F3) for the sub contract name Central Air Conditioning.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Description field, enter a suitable description for the sub contract, e.g., Installation of central air conditioning for the building.
  5. Enter the Payment Analyst, QS (Quantity Surveyor) and Estimator of the sub contract. Use the List of Values in the relevant fields to select valid values.
  6. In the Category1 field, enter XXBC, where XX are your initials. Use the List of Values to select a value.
  7. Save the record (F12).
