Using Create Customer Wizard—Exercises

IMPORTANT
If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create stored sales parts and receive them into inventory in order to use them in the exercise.

Enter Customer

Windows:

  1. Enter C.S.C. New York as customer with XX-1000 as Customer No.

  1. Enter Street Car as Sales Part and with XX-18-300 as Sales Part No.
  2. Create relevant Inventory Locations.

  4. Receive a sufficient number of parts into stock.

Create a Customer Template

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create a template to be used when a new customer record is generated during customer order entry.

Windows:
Customer/Order/General

  1. Search for C.S.C. New York XX-1000.
  2. Click the Order tab and then the General tab.
  3. Select the Template Customer check box, and enter a name for the template in the Template Description field.
  4. Save your changes.

Entering Customer Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

  1. Open the Customer Order window and click New to create a new customer order.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create a customer record when entering a customer order.

Windows:

A new affiliate in the C.S.C. group, C.S.C. Singapore XX-1010, has placed an order for 2 XX-18-300 Street Car.

Create Customer from Template

  1. Right-click in the upper part of the Customer Order window and then click Quick Registered Customer.... The Create Customer wizard is displayed on the screen.
  2. In the Template Customer ID field, select your own template using the List of Values, or enter it manually.
  3. Under New Customer, and enter the appropriate information, such as the customer ID and name. Click Next.
  4. Enter the appropriate information, such as delivery address, document address, and miscellaneous customer information. Once you have entered the desired information, click Finish to confirm.
  5. Enter a wanted delivery date, and save the customer order header.
  6. Click the Order Addresses tab, and note the address that appears. Which address is displayed—that of C.S.C. New York or C.S.C. Singapore?
  7. Enter a customer order line with a sales quantity of 2 XX-18-300 Street Car, and release the order.
  8. Open two Customer windows. Search for C.S.C. New York in the first window, and C.S.C. Singapore in the second. Compare the information for the two customers. What is different?
