Non Conformance Report—Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Viewing Person

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to make sure that you have defined your user as a person in the application.

  1. Verify that your user has been defined as a person.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to enter disposition codes, non-conformances, severities, locations, sources and root causes.

Entering Disposition Codes

  1. On the Non Conformance Report Basic Data window, click the Dispostion Codes tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the Disposition Code column, enter a short code for the disposition (for example REWORK-I).
  4. In the Disposition Description column, enter a description of the disposition code (for example, internal rework).
  5. In the Notes column, enter a note regarding the disposition code. Entering a value in this column is optional.
  6. Save when complete.

Entering Non Conformances

  1. On the Non Conformance Report Basic Data window, click the Non Conformances tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the Non Conformance Code column, enter a short code for categorization of non-conformances (for example, DAMAGE).
  4. In the Non Conformance Description column, enter a description of the nonconformance (for example damaged goods).
  5. In the Notes column, enter a note regarding the nonconformance. Entering a value in this column is optional.
  6. Save when complete.

Entering Severity information

  1. On the Non Conformance Report Basic Data window, click the Severity tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the Severity ID column, enter a short code for categorization of different severity levels (for example, 1).
  4. In the Description column enter a description of the severity level (for example, high).
  5. In the Notes column, enter a note regarding the severity. Entering a value in this column is optional.
  6. Save when complete.

Entering Location information

  1. On the Non Conformance Report Basic Data window, click the Location tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the Location ID column, enter a short code for the location of where non-conformances can occur (for example, Su1SITE2).
  4. In the Description column, enter a description of the location (for example in this case, Supplier 1, Site 2).
  5. In the Notes column, enter a note regarding the location. Entering a value in this column is optional.
  6. Save when complete.

Entering Source information

  1. On the Non Conformance Report Basic Data window, click the Source tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the Source ID column, enter a short code for how the nonconformance was detected (for example, at an audit or customer complaint or other).
  4. In the Description column, enter a description of the source (for example, damaged raw material).
  5. In the Notes column, enter a note regarding the location. Entering a value in this column is optional.
  6. Save when complete.

Entering Root Cause information

  1. On the Non Conformance Report Basic Data window, click the Root Cause tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the Root Cause ID column, enter a short code for the category of the root cause that caused the nonconformance (for example, 100).
  4. In the Description column, enter a description of the root cause category (for example, damaged raw material).
  5. In the Notes column, enter a note regarding the root cause. Entering a value in this column is optional.
  6. Save when complete.

Configuring NCR Object Connections

  1. Populate the Object Connections window and search for the required LU Name. If the LU Name of the object that you want to connect is not displayed on the list, you have to add a new connection line.
    Note: Only a system administrator can access and configure the NCR object connections in the Object Connections window.
  2. Select the required LU Name and add NcrObjectConnection^ in the Service List column to make them non conformance reporting aware. For instance, make the LU Names ShopOrd and InventoryPart NCR aware.
  3. Save when complete.
    Note: You need to log out and then log in to the application to be able use the newly created non conformance reporting object connections.
