Spreading Resource Forecasted Hours—Exercises
Required Data
Enter Version Lines
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the
required data that is used in the exercises below.
- Enter 3 resource forecast lines on a project resource forecast.

Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to spread the
resource forecasted hours in a project in three different ways.
Windows:
Project Resource Forecast
Spreading Hours using
Linear Method
- Open the
Project Resource Forecast window and query for the project
resource forecast for
which you created resource forecast lines.
- Select the row, right-click and click Spread Linear. Click YES.
- Observe how the hours has been spread through the dates by using
function Resource Forecast Allocation.
Spreading Hours Manually
- Open the
Project Resource Forecast window and query for the project
resource forecast for
which you created resource forecast lines.
- Select the first resource line, right-click and click Resource Forecast
Allocation.

Select the Day tab.

Change
Hours for the first date in list. The date must be within early
start and latest finish date of the resource forecast line.

Save the record (F12).
Spreading Hours using Date Ranges
- Open the
Project Resource Forecast window and query for the project
resource forecast for
which you created resource forecast lines.
- Select the second resource line, right-click and click Spread with
Date Range.
- Add a new line. Set the To Date to be earlier than the
proposal.
- Enter 2 in the No Hours Per Day field. Click Apply.
- Add one more line.
- Enter 20 as Spread Hours. Click Apply.
- Click OK.
- Observe how the hours has been spread through the dates by selecting the
Resource Forecast Allocation option from the right mouse button menu.
