Windows:
Project Navigator/Connections
Project Navigator/Activity

Manually Connecting and Disconnecting from the Activity

  1. Open the Project Navigator window. (Alternatively, open the Activity window.)
  2. Query for your project.
  3. In the Navigator, select the activity to which you want to connect your object. (Alternatively, in the Activity window, select the desired activity in the Project list.)
  4. Click the Connections tab.
  5. Right-click and then click Connect/Disconnect Object. A window appears which has a tab for each type of object which is allowed to be manually connected to an activity in your project.

Note: The tabs that appear in the Connect/Disconnect Object window depend on which object types you allowed in the Registering Manual Activity Connected Objects per Project Required Data exercise above. In addition, the tabs that appear also depend on which executable you are using. For example, the Shop Order tab will not appear if the executable that you are running does not contain IFS/Shop Order.

  1. Click the tab for the object type that you wish to manually connect to this activity (and that you created in the Required Data exercise above).
  2. Click Populate. All objects that are not currently connected to any activity and that meet all necessary requirements, as well as those which are manually connected to this activity are listed. Connect the desired object by adding a check in the Connection checkbox. Click OK to save your changes.
  3. Note that your object is shown in the upper table on the Connections tab.
  4. Note that there is no check in the System Connection field as the object was manually connected.

Note: You disconnect objects also in the Connect/Disconnect Object window.

  1. To disconnect a connected object from the activity, repeat steps 4-6 and click the tab for the object type that you wish to manually disconnect from this activity.
  2. Disconnect the desired object by clearing the Connection checkbox. Click OK to save your changes.

Manually Connecting and Disconnecting from the Object

  1. Open the overview window or the detail window for the object type that you wish to manually connect to an activity and populate this window with the object that you created in the Required Data exercise above.
  2. Right-click, click Project Connection and then click Connect to Activity.
  3. In the window that appears, select the desired activity to which your object should be connected by selecting from the List of Values in the different fields (program ID, project ID, subproject ID, activity ID, or activity sequence).
  4. Click OK to save your changes.
  5. Open the Project Navigator window. (Alternatively, open the Activity window.)
  6. Query for your project.
  7. In the Navigator, select the activity to which you have connected your object in steps 3 and 4. (Alternatively, in the Activity window, select the desired activity in the Project list.)
  8. Click the Connections tab.
  9. Note that your object is shown in the upper table on the Connections tab.
  10. Note that there is no check in the System Connection field as the object was manually connected.

Note: Perform the following steps to disconnect the manually connected object from the object.

  1. Repeat step 1, populating the window with the object that you connected to an activity above.
  2. Right-click, click Project Connection and then click Disconnect from Activity.
  3. Repeat steps 5 to 8.
  4. Note that the object is no longer shown in the upper table on the Connections tab.
