Changing the Quantity and Date on Project-Pegged Requests—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to change the quantity and requested date on pegged requests connected to project-specific items in the project product structure.

Changing the Requested Quantity of a Project-Specific Item with Connected Purchase Order

  1. Open the Project Product window, and query for your project XXPD–01.
  2. Click the Demand tab.
  3. On the MPL tab, note the required quantity for part 20–11XX (Engine Block 1600).
  4. Click the Supply tab and then click the Procured tab.
  5. Verify that a request exists for part 20–11XX and that this request has been converted to a purchase order. 
  6. Open the Project Item window.
  7. Query for your project XXPD–01 and part 20–10XX (Engine 1600).
  8. Click the Consist Of tab.
  9. In the Quantity field,  change the quantity per assembly of part 20–11XX from 1 to 3.
  10. Save your changes. A message appears indicating that there is a shop order connected to the parent part and if you want to update the shop order allocation. 
  11. Click Yes. A message appears indicating that the allocation for part 20–11XX has been changed on the shop order.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Return to the Project Product window.
  14. Click the Demand tab.
  15. On the MPL tab, rerun the GRC as a result of the quantity change for part 20–11XX.
  16. Verify that the required quantity for this part has changed to 3 but that the requested quantity remains 1.
  17. Select the row containing this part, right-click, and then click Modify Requested Quantity to change the requested quantity of the part. A message appears indicating whether you want to change quantity of the part.  
  18. Click Yes.
  19. Verify that the requested quantity has been updated to 3. 
  20. Repeat steps 7–19, only this time change the quantity per assembly of part 20–11XX back to 1.

Changing the Requested Date of a Project-Specific Item with Connected Shop Order

  1. Open the Project Product window, and query for your project XXPD–01.
  2. Click the Supply tab.
  3. On the Procured tab, verify that a request exists for part 20–10XX (Engine 1600).
  4. Note the requested date for this part.
  5. Click the Items tab. 
  6. In the Activity Seq field, verify that an activity is connected to part 20–10XX. 
  7. Select the row containing part 20–10XX, right-click, and then click Activity. The Activity window appears.
  8. On the General tab, change the early finish date, e.g., make it two days later. 
  9. Save your changes.
  10. Close the Activity window. 
  11. Return to the Project Product window.
  12. Click the Demand tab.
  13. On the MPL tab, rerun the GRC as a result of the early finish date change on the activity connected to part 20–10XX.
  14. Verify that the required date for this part has changed accordingly.
  15. Click the Supply tab and then click the Procured tab.
  16. Verify that the required date, but not the requested date, for this part has changed accordingly.
  17. Select the part, right-click, and then click Modify Request Date to change the requested date for the part.
  18. Click Yes and then OK on the messages that appear.
  19. Verify that the requested date has been updated.
