Registering Inventory Part Template—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Part Classes 

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create some part classes for the new engineering parts to be created in the next exercise below.

Windows:
Product Basic Data/Classes

  1. If you have not already done so, create two new part classes: XX–PP (Project Produced) and XX–PA (Project Acquired), substituting XX with your name initials.
  2. Save each record.

Inventory Part

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the basic data needed to create an inventory part template in IFS/Project Delivery.

Windows:
InventoryPart/General
Inventory Part/Acquisition

  1. If you have not already done so, create the following inventory parts at your site:
Inventory Part Description Part Type Planner U/M
PA–001 Template Purchased Part Purchased * PCS
PP–002 Template Manufactured Part Manufactured * PCS
  1. Set the lead time to 1 for each part.
  2. Save your changes.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to enter the inventory part template as basic data for project delivery.

Registering Inventory Part Template

  1. Open the Project Delivery Basic Data window
  2. Click the Inventory Part Template tab.
  3. Create two new records, as shown in the following table:

Your project XX–PP * Your site PP–002
  1. Save your changes.
