Prepare Maintenance Visit—Basic Data and Requirements Exercise

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn about the basic data used when creating maintenance orders and planning maintenance tasks.

Workshop

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

Windows:
Serial Basic Data

  1. Open the Serial Basic Data window and click the Workshop tab.
  2. Have you already created workshops nLAX-C and nLAX-L? 

General exercise for Workshop

Cancel Cause

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to register new cancel cause codes.

Windows:
Maintenance Task Basic Data
Operation Basic Data

  1. Click the Cancel Cause tab and create a new record (F5).
  2. Enter nMYCAUSE as the cancel cause, where n is your student number.
  3. Enter My Cancellation Cause as the cancel cause description.
  4. Save the information (F12).

Cancel Cause Access

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to grant access to use cancellation codes.

  1. Click the Cancel Cause Access tab.
  2. Populate (F2) or query (F3) for your user ID.
  3. Create a new record (F5) in the table of the window.
  4. Enter the cancel cause nMYCAUSE which you created in the previous exercise.
  5. Save the information (F12).
  6. Alternatively, you can assign all existing cancel causes to your user by right-clicking on the tab, and then clicking Assign All Causes.

Department

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to register a department.

Windows:
Maintenance Task Basic Data

  1. Click the Department tab.
  2. Populate (F2) or query (F3) for your workshop code nLAX-C.
  3. Verify that the departments for Avionics and Mechanics are already defined.
  4. Create a new record (F5) in the table of the window.
  5. Register a department to take care of engine testing. Enter nENGTEST as the department code.
  6. Enter a description of this department.
  7. Save the information (F12).

Workshop Access

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to define the workshops to which you are allowed to distribute maintenance tasks.

Windows:
Maintenance Task Basic Data

  1. Click the Workshop Access tab.
  2. Populate (F2) or query (F3) for your user ID.
  3. Verify that you are allowed to distribute tasks to the workshop nLAX-C.
  4. Create a new record (F5) in the table of the window.
  5. For your user, give access to the nLAX-L workshop.
  6. Save the information (F12).
  7. Alternatively, you can assign all existing workshops to your user by right-clicking on the tab, and then clicking Assign All Workshops.

Sign Off Requirements per Product Model

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to register the sign off requirements that are to be used on maintenance orders. These sign off requirements are defined per product model.

Windows:
Maintenance Task Basic Data

  1. Click the Sign Off Req. per Product Model tab.
  2. Populate (F2) or query (F3) for the necessary product and model.
  3. Create a new record (F5) in the table of the window.
  4. Specify the sign off requirement type. Valid values are Release to Service and Counter Release to Service.
  5. If needed, specify a license for the person signing off the maintenance order connected to this product model. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
  6. In the Sign Off Description field, enter a description of the work to be done prior to signing off. You do not have to enter a value in this field.
  7. Save the information (F12).
