Manage Serialized Configuration—Basic Data and Requirements Exercise

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn about the basic data used when defining serial structures in IFS/VIM (IFS/Vehicle Information Management).

Workshop

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn about workshops and how to register a new workshop.

Windows:
Serial Basic Data

  1. Open the Serial Basic Data window and click the Workshop tab.
  2. Enter your own workshops using the information in the following table:

  1. Connect a valid location to your workshops.
  2. Save the information (F12).

Equipment Code

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn to register equipment that is not defined as a regular part and which is not included in a serial structure.

Windows:
Serial Basic Data

  1. Open the Serial Basic Data window and click the Equipment Code tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5) and specify an optional 1st class resting pillow for product number 7X7 and model number X747-90n. You can choose your own Equipment Code, but use your "n" as prefix. 
  3. Save the information (F12).

Vehicle Condition

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to register vehicle conditions for statistical monitoring of the condition of the vehicles in the fleet.

Windows:
Serial Basic Data

  1. Open the Serial Basic Data window and click the Vehicle Condition tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5) and specify vehicle condition PAn, with the description Partly in Service. This condition that will not have any automatic setting. 
  3. Save the information (F12).

Location Code

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn to register a new home location for serials/vehicles. Locations are also used in the definition of transport routes.

Windows:
Serial Basic Data

  1. Open the Serial Basic Data window and click the Location Code tab.
  2. LAX - Los Angeles will be the home base of your serials. Check that the location exists. If it doesn't exist, register it.

Template Route

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to register transport routes used to plan and follow-up standard transport connections.

Windows:
Serial Basic Data

  1. Open the Serial Basic Data window and click the Template Route tab.
  2. Define a new cargo air transport route nLAXOSL with daily connection Los Angeles - Oslo with 2 stops in between.
  3. Register transport route according to this schedule (US Pacific Time):

    LAX (Los Angeles) 0 10 am 0

  4. Save the information (F12).
