Basic Data Setup

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you which possibilities there are to maintain production schedules. The exercise is in two steps, first we create production schedules for a production line then we maintain those schedules. You should have completed the specified exercises below before you start this one.

General exercise for Define a Production Line

Required Data

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to add some more data demand in order to create a production schedule

Windows:
Customer Order

  1. Open the Customer Order window.
  2. Create a new customer order
  3. Add 10 order lines for part no 61-901 for delivery on different dates.
  4. Save your changes.

Run MRP

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to generate a production schedule.

Windows:
Perform Site MRP

  1. Open the Perform Site MRP window.
  2. Run material requirements planning (MRP).
  3. Check the background jobs, and verify that the MRP have been performed.
  4. Make sure that there are production schedules for Part 61–901 on Production Line 900.

Generate a Production Schedule for Part 61–900

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to generate a production schedule.

Windows:
Production Schedule by Line

  1. Open the Production Schedule by Line window.
  2. Populate production Line 900, Production line for rims.
  3. Right-click and then click Generate Line Schedule. Generate a production schedule for Part 61–900. Be sure clear the Replace Existing Schedule check box.
  4. Make sure that there are some production schedules where Parts 61–900 and 61–901 have the same date.

Main Exercise

Maintain Production Schedules

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to generate a production schedule

Windows:
Production Schedule by Line

  1. In the Production Schedule by Line window, populate production line 900, Production line for rims.
  2. Select a date (both parts should have the same date), and change the build sequence.
  3. Save your changes, and note the results.
  4. Change the schedule date and build sequence on some of the production schedules.
  5. Save your changes, and note the results.
  6. Make some of the production schedules firm or unfirm (both within and outside the firm horizon).
  7. Run MRP, and note the results.

Remove Past-Due Production Schedules

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to generate a production schedule.

Windows:
Production Schedule by Line
Remove Past Due Line Schedule

  1. In the Production Schedule by Line window, populate production line 900, Production line for rims.
  2. Create a few new production schedules by duplicating existing ones.
  3. Change the date on these schedules so that it is earlier than the past-due fence.
  4. Open window Remove Past Due Line Schedule
  5. Choose Production Line 900, Production line for rims.
  6. Populate Production Line 900, and analyze the result.
