Kanban Card Detail—Extended Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Create Dock and Subdock Codes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular feature.

Windows:

  1. Click the Dock Codes tab.
  2. Enter the dock codes and the subdock codes.

Enter Supplier Kanban Circuit

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

  1. Make sure a Kanban circuit exists on your site with the following information.

Part No RW200
Supply To Location No Add a Picking location (not the same as specified for the production line)
Replenish Type Supplier
Replenish Source 177
Signal Type Electronic
Qty Per Kanban 4
No of Kanbans 2

Create Supplier Kanban Circuit Card(s)

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

  1. Make sure the Kanban circuit has deployed Kanban cards.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to describe how to setup some of the more advanced features of Kanban cards.

Windows:
Kanban Circuit

Enter Text for Kanban Cards

  1. Query for the part number RW200 in the Kanban circuit.
  2. Click the Card Details tab, and enter the text in the Circuit Card Text field to be shown on all the cards in the Kanban circuit.
  3. Click the Cards tab, and enter the text in the Card Text field to be shown on a Kanban card.
  4. Select a card, right-click and then click Print Selected Kanban Card(s).
  5. Clear the Deploy Card(s) option and click OK.
  6. Specify the printer options and print the Kanban card.
  7. Verify the printout results.

Add a Picture to a Kanban Circuit

  1. Query for the part number RW200 in the Kanban circuit.
  2. Click the Card Details tab.
  3. Right-click in the Part Image area and then click Browse.
  4. Select a picture file from a network location.
  5. Save the picture to a network location accessible by the printer, by right-clicking in the Part Image area and then clicking Save As.
  6. Go to the Cards tab.
  7. Select a card, right-click and then click Print Selected Kanban Card(s).
  8. Clear the Deploy Card(s) option, and click OK.
  9. Specify the printer options and print the Kanban card.
  10. Verify the printout results.

Enter Dock Code for a Supplier Kanban Circuit

  1. Query for the part number RW200 in the Kanban circuit.
  2. Click the Card Details tab.
  3. Enter values for the dock code and the subdock code.
  4. Click the Cards tab.
  5. Select a card, right-click and then click Print Selected Kanban Card(s).
  6. Clear the Deploy Card(s) option, and click OK.
  7. Specify the printer options and print the Kanban card.
  8. Verify the printout results.

Print Barcodes on a Kanban Card

  1. Query for the part number RW200 in the Kanban circuit.
  2. Click the Cards tab.
  3. Select a card, right-click and then click Print Selected Kanban Card(s).
  4. Clear the Deploy Card(s) option, and click OK.
  5. Specify the printer options and print the Kanban card.
  6. Verify the printout results.

Note: If the barcode did not print properly, then probably the barcode font needs to be set up in your system.
