Revert Structure Changes—Extended Exercise

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Note: Throughout this document, please replace any occurrences of XX with your initials, group ID, user ID or other unique prefix, in order to separate your training data from that of other students.

Basic Data Setup

Reserve Parent Materials

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to reserve the parent material of multilevel repair shop orders.

  1. If you have not done so already, reserve parent materials.

Required Data

Add a Structure Component

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to add a structure component to complete the main exercises. 

Windows:
Shop Order

  1. Open the Shop Order window and query for your multilevel repair shop order.
  2. Open the Multilevel Repair Structure tab.
  3. Right-click on the top node of the tree structure and then click Expand Descendents.
  4. Right-click on the revision node under the part XX5110 and then click Component Replacement. This will open the Component Replacement Details dialog box.
  5. Click Add to create a new line in the table.
  6. In the Repl Comp No field, enter XXREP03.
  7. In the Repair Reason field, enter MR01.
  8. In the Repl Qty field, enter 1.
  9. Select a value to the New Part Revision in the header using the List of Values.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Refresh the shop order and open the Materials tab. Verify that the added part is listed there.

Remove a Structure Component

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to remove a structure component to complete the main exercises. 

Windows:
Shop Order

  1. Open the Shop Order window and query for your multilevel repair shop order.
  2. Open the Multilevel Repair Structure tab.
  3. Right-click on the top node of the tree structure and then click Expand Descendents.
  4. Right-click on the revision node under the part XX5120 and then click Component Replacement. This will open the Component Replacement Details dialog box.
  5. Select the line with XX5122 as the Original Component Part.
  6. Select Remove from the Repair Action list.
  7. In the Repair Reason field, enter MR02.
  8. Select a value for the New Part Revision field in the header using the List of Values.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Refresh the shop order and open the Salvage Parts tab. Verify that the removed component is listed there.

Replace a Structure Component

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to replace a structure component to complete the main exercises. 

Windows:
Shop Order

  1. Open the Shop Order window and query for your multilevel repair shop order.
  2. Open the Multilevel Repair Structure tab.
  3. Right-click on the top node of the tree structure and then click Expand Descendents.
  4. Right-click on the revision node under the part XX5120 and then click Component Replacement. This will open the Component Replacement Details dialog box.
  5. Select a record with the XX5121 as the component part number.
  6. Change the Repair Action to Replace.
  7. In the Repl Comp No field, enter XXREP03.
  8. In the Repair Reason field, enter MR03.
  9. In the Repl Qty field, enter 1.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Refresh the shop order and open the Salvage Parts tab. Verify that the removed component are listed there.
  12. Open the Materials tab. Verify that the new parts added are listed there.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to teach you how to roll back the structure changes done in a multilevel repair shop order.

Windows:
Shop Order

Revert Add Structure Component

  1. Open the Shop Order window and query for your multilevel repair shop order.
  2. Open the Multilevel Repair Structure tab.
  3. Right-click on the top node of the tree structure and then click Expand Descendents.
  4. Right-click on the revision node under the part XX5110 and then click Component Replacement. This will open the Component Replacement Details dialog box.
  5. Notice that there exists a component line with XXREP03 as the replace component number. You can see that the Component Modified is selected. Select Revert Changes relevant to that particular record.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Refresh the shop order and open the Materials tab. Verify that the component XXREP03 is no longer there.
  8. Open the Repair History window and query for your shop order. Verify that the respective history record is no longer there.

Revert Remove Structure Component

  1. Open the Shop Order window and query for your multilevel repair shop order.
  2. Open the Multilevel Repair Structure tab.
  3. Right-click on the top node of the tree structure and then click Expand Descendents.
  4. Right-click on the revision node under the part XX5120 and then click Component Replacement. This will open the Component Replacement Details dialog box.
  5. Select the line with XX5122 as the original component part. Notice that the Component Modified is selected.
  6. Select Revert Changes and click OK.
  7. Refresh the shop order and open the Salvage Parts tab. Verify that the respective salvage part record has been deleted.
  8. Open the Repair History window and query for your shop order. Verify that the respective history record has been deleted.

Revert Replace Structure Component

  1. Open the Shop Order window and query for your multilevel repair shop order.
  2. Open the Multilevel Repair Structure tab.
  3. Right-click on the top node of the tree structure and then click Expand Descendents.
  4. Right-click on the revision node under the part XX5120 and then click Component Replacement. This will open the Component Replacement Details dialog box.
  5. Select a record with the XX5121 as the component part number. You can see the Component Modified is selected.
  6. Select Revert Changes and click OK.
  7. Refresh the shop order and open the Salvage Parts tab. Verify that the respective salvage part record has been deleted.
  8. Open the Materials tab. Verify that the part XXREP03 has been removed.
  9. Open the Repair History window and query for your shop order. Verify that the respective history record has been deleted.
