Reserve and Issue Parent Materials—Key Exercise

Note: Throughout this document, please replace any occurrences of XX
with your initials, group ID, user ID or other unique prefix, in order to
separate your training data from that of other students.
Required Data
Create Multilevel Repair Shop Orders
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create
multilevel repair shop orders.
- If you have not done so already, create multilevel repair shop orders.

Main Exercises
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to reserve and issue
parent materials of multilevel repair shop orders.

Shop Order
When reserving parent materials to a multilevel repair shop
order, it is necessary to reserve the full quantity in order to start multilevel repair process. If the parent part is lot/batch-tracking-enabled,
then all parent parts will have to be reserved from a single lot/batch number.
Reserve Parent Materials for a Multilevel Repair Shop Order
- Open the
Shop Order window and query for order number ML1.
- Release the shop order and go to the
Materials tab.
- Right-click on the material record and then click on Manual
Reservations. This will open the
Reservations window.
- Create a new line in the table and get the List of Values for the
Location field.
- Select the record with S-1 as the serial number, click OK and
save the record.
- Refresh the Shop Order window and verify that the
Multilevel Repair Structure tab is enabled since you have completely reserved the parent
materials.
- Repeat the steps 1-6 for the shop order ML2 as well. There you have to
reserve the parent where lot/batch number is LOT-1. Make sure that you
reserve two parent parts this time.
Note: In an event where more than one as-built
revision exists for a specific serial number attached to the reserved parent
part, the structure with the highest number of parent as-built revisions is shown in
the Multilevel Repair Structure tab. Therefore in this case, the lot/batch number of the
parent part is ignored.
Un-reserve Parent Materials for a multilevel Repair Shop Order
- Open the
Shop Order window and query for order number ML1.
- Open
Materials tab.
- Right click on the material record and then click on Unreserve.
Click Yes to the information message and then it gives you a warning
message of removing component replace data. This means, if you have done
some structure changes, those changes will not be take in to effect once you
un-reserve the parent material. Click OK.
- Reserve the parent material again as in the previous exercise to
proceed with issue.
Issue Parent Materials for a Multilevel Repair Shop Order
- Open the
Shop Order window and query for order number ML1.
- Right-click in the header and then click Material Actions/Issue.
This will open the Enter criteria for Issue dialog box.
- Select Select All Reserved Material and click OK.
- Repeat the steps 1 to 3 for the shop order ML2 as well.
Note: You may also use the right mouse button option Manual Issue from
Materials tab.
Un-issue Parent Materials for a multilevel Repair Shop Order
- Open the
Shop Order window and query for order number ML1.
- Right-click in the header and then click Material Actions/Manual
Unissue. This will open the
Manual Unissue Shop Order window.
- Select the record in the table, right-click and then click Location
to Unissue. This will open the
Location to Unissue window.
- Enter 1 in the Qty to UInissue field and save the record. Then it
gives you a warning message of removing component replace data. This means
that if you have done some structure changes those changes will not be take into effect once you un-issue
the parent material. Click OK.
