Create Multilevel Repair Shop Orders—Key Exercise

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Note: Throughout this document, please replace any occurrences of XX with your initials, group ID, user ID or other unique prefix, in order to separate your training data from that of other students.

Basic Data Setup

View Multilevel As-Built Structure

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create the required data that will be used to create multilevel repair shop orders.

  1. If you have not done so already, do the lesson View Multi level As-Built Structure.

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to create multilevel repair shop orders.

Windows:
Shop Order

Create a Multilevel Repair Shop Order for a Serialized Part

  1. Open the Shop Order window and create a new record.
  2. If the value for the Site field is not your site, change it to your site.
  3. Enter ML1 in the Order No and XX5000 in the Part No fields.
  4. In the Shop Order Type list box , select Repair.
  5. Enter 1 as the lot size.
  6. Enter a date two weeks ahead of today as the need date.
  7. Save the record.

Verify that the consumable components existing in the repair product structure of part XX5200 have not been copied to the Shop Order/Materials tab. This is because it is a multilevel repair shop order. Also notice that you cannot change the effective structure revision/alternate using the right mouse button menu option Update Allocations and/or Operations/Update Structure Revision and/or Alternates.

Note: You are not allowed to create a multilevel repair shop order for a serialized part with lot size more than 1.

Create a Multilevel Repair Shop Order for a Non-serialized Part

  1. Open the Shop Order window and create a new record.
  2. If the value for the Site field is not your site, change it to your site.
  3. Enter ML2 as the Order No and XX5200 as the Part No.
  4. In the Shop Order Type list box , select Repair.
  5. Enter 2 as the Lot Size.
  6. Enter a date of 2 weeks ahead from today as the Need Date.
  7. Save the record.
