Creating Shop Order Requisitions Manually—Key Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity.  If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students.  Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site. 

Basic Data Setup

Discrete Manufacturing Overview Racing Engine

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create the required data that will be used in the Discrete Manufacturing exercises. This sets up data for your site and needs to be done only once for the Discrete Manufacturing courses exercises.

  1. Set up your site for discrete manufacturing of racing engines.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the additional functionality available when creating shop order requisitions manually.

Windows:
Shop Order Requisition

A structure and routing for a new part has been developed and five samples of the new part will be needed in order to show at the next department meeting. You need to identify the need (requirements) but you do not have the authority to create a shop order. Create a shop order requisition with the quantity of the part and date needed.

Creating a Shop Order Requisition Manually

  1. Open the Shop Order Requisition window.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. In the header, change the value in the Site field to your site, if necessary.
  4. Enter 21-313 in the Part No field.
  5. Enter a date two weeks from today in the Due Date field.
  6. Enter 5 in the Quantity field.
  7. In the Note Text field, enter a note identifying that the parts should be delivered to you before the department meeting.
  8. Save the information.
