Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to select employees from companies to participate in an employee survey and to distribute the survey to the selected participants.

Participant Selection

The table illustrates how employees in a company are assigned to organizations and positions. A survey can be created for some or all of these employees. Instead of selecting participants individually, positions and/or organization codes which apply to a group of employees can be specified.

Select Participants

  1. Open the Employee Survey/Participants Selection tab.
  2. Create a new row.
  3. Enter Org A as the organization code and specify Include as the selection rule. The employees belonging to this organization unit will then be included as participants.
  4. Repeat the second step. Instead of specifying an organization code, enter the Manager B position and specify Include as the selection rule.
  5. Repeat the second step. Instead of specifying an organization or position, enter CARL as the employee and specify Include as the selection rule.

    Note:
    So far, all employees belonging to Org A organization code and the employees assigned to Manager B position in the Org B organization as well as the employee CARL has been included as participants for the survey.
     
  6. Repeat the second step and enter Worker A as the position and specify Exclude as the selection rule.

    Note:
    Although, employees belonging to Org A organization code has been included as participants, the employees belonging to the Worker A position in the Org A organization will be excluded from the participant list.

Distribute Survey to Participants

  1. Open the Survey window.
  2. Ensure that participants are selected by opening the Employee Survey/Participants tab and that survey questions are defined in the Employee Survey/Questions tab.
  3. Ensure that survey is approved.
  4. In the header of the Survey window, change the status of the survey to Published.
  5. Notice that the Published check box is selected for all the participants listed in the Employee Survey/Participants tab.
