Updating Planned Costs from PQL in Project Delivery—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the data that must be in place before you can do the the exercises below.

  1. Work with the created request for quotation (RFQ) in Project Delivery.
  2. Save your changes.

General exercise for Working with RFQ in Project Delivery 

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to update the planned cost of project item from the PQL based on approved best supplier price for the item in the created RFQ.

Updating Planned Cost of Project Items from PQL 

  1. Open the Project Product window and query for your project XXPD–01.
  2. Click the Quotation List tab.
  3. Verify that a record exists for part 20–122 (Camshaft 1600).
  4. Select this row, right-click, and then click Get Best Supplier Price. Note that this option appears dimmed as expected, i.e., the supplier blanket has already been approved.
  5. Verify that a supplier price has been retrieved for the part. 
  6. Click the Part Definition tab.
  7. Select the row containing part 20–122, right-click, and then click Get Supplier Price. Note that you get the same price shown in the Supplier Price field for the part on the Quotation List tab. This value is not stored.
  8. Click the Items tab.
  9. In the Project Override field, enter a cost of 100 USD for part 20–122. Make note of this value.
  10. Save your changes.
  11. Click the Part Definition tab.
  12. Select the row containing part 20–122, right-click, and then click Set Project Cost Like Supplier Price for All Items. A message appears prompting you to indicate whether you really want to override the cost with the supplier price from PQL.
  13. Click Yes. 
  14. Return to the Items tab.
  15. Verify that the project override material cost for part 20–122 changed from the price that you specified for it in step 9 to the supplier price for the part listed on the Quotation List tab.
