Creating a Project Product Structure
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize
you with the data that must be in place before you can do the the exercises
below.
- Create a project product structure.
- Save your changes.

Main Exercises
Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to check parts
and their occurrences in the project product structure and viewing the structure
in the navigator.

Note: The parts below have been created in the Creating Project
Product Structure exercise.
- Open the
Project Product window and query for your
project XXPD–01.
- Click the
Part Definition tab.
- Check each part's part revision and item occurrences.
- Click the
Items tab.
- Create a new record.
- In the Part Number field, enter 20–11XX (Engine Block 1600) or select
it from the List of Values.
- In the Part Revision field, enter R01.
- In the MPL Part list, click Demand.
- Check the value of the Provide Code field. Modify this value, if
required.
- Save your changes.
- Click the
Part Definition tab and observe the item occurrence for
20–11XX.
- Click the
Items tab and delete part 20–11XX, the part you just
added, by clicking Remove.
- Save your changes.
- Click the
Part
Definition tab and observe that the item occurrence for this part has decreased.
- Open the
Project Product window and query for your
project XXPD–01.
- Click the
Items tab.
- Select the top item 20–10XX (Engine 1600), and right-click and then click Project Item
Navigator.
- Select 20–10XX, and right-click and then click Expand.
- Select 20–10XX, and right-click and then click Collapse in the navigator.
Check the different tabs and observe that some of these tabs are also
found in the Project Item and
Project Product
windows.
