Approving Project Part Definitions and Project Items—Exercises

It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own
site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other
site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of
other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be
isolated in your own site. |
Required Data
Creating a Project Product Structure
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize
you with the data that must be in place before you can do the the exercises
below.
- Create a project product structure.

Approving Project
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize
you with the data that must be in place before you can do the the exercises
below.
- Approve the project in IFS/Project, selecting the project group 10.

Main Exercises
Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to approve
the project, approve the part definition of project items, and redefine and
redesign some project items.

Project Product/Items
- Open the
Project Product window and query for your
project XXPD–01.
- Click the
Part
Definition tab.
- Select part 20–11XX (Engine
Block 1600), right-click and then click Approve Part
Definition.
- Click Yes to the information message that appears. Note that you
will receive an error message if there is an approval routing connected to
this part which has been not completed yet. If you have done the Entering Approval Routing
exercises, then an approval routing has been specified for this part. If
this is the case, do steps 5–7.
- Go to the Project Item window and query your project
and part 20–11XX.
- Click the App. Routing tab and verfy that the approval steps
specified for this part have not been approved.
- Approve each step, starting with the first step, by selecting the row and
right-clicking and then click Approve Step. Click Yes to the
message indicating the approval of the step.
- Go back to the
Project Product window and click the
Part
Definition tab.
- Select the part 20–11XX again and then right-click and then click Approve Part
Definition.
- Click Yes to the information message that appears.
- Click OK to the warning message regarding the part's revision which
is not yet released.
- Select all the other parts, and right-click and then click Approve Part
Definition.
- Click Yes to the information message regarding the part definition
approval of the project item.
- Click OK to the warning message regarding the part's revision which
is not yet released.
Prerequisite: You should do the above Approve Project
Part Definition exercise first.
- Open the
Project Product window and query for your
project XXPD–01.
- On the
Items tab, check the status of each item.
- Select 20–11XX (Engine Block
1600), and right-click and then click Status–Redefine.
- Check what happened to the status of the project item.
- On the Note column in the
Items tab, write any note
for part 20–11XX.
- Save your changes.
- Select the part again, and right-click and then click Status–Approve Design.
