Publishing Solution—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Entering Support Center User

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up your user as a support center user in order to run this particular functionality.

Windows:
Support Center Basic Data /Persons

  1. Query for your user in the Support Center Basic Data/Persons window.
  2. Enter your user as a support center user and save.

Entering Solution Types

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up your solution type to be able to generate HTML pages.

Windows:
Support Center Basic Data /Solution Types

  1. Query for the solution type ID FAQ in the Support Center Basic Data/Solution Types window.
  2. Enter C:\temp\FAQ.htm as the file name and save.

Note: Make sure you have a temp directory on the computer.

Entering Support Solution

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter the support solution that is used in the exercises below.

  1. Create a support solution.
  2. Make sure the solution type is FAQ.
  3. Enter your e-mail address in the Solution/Answer field and save.

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to work with support solutions.

Windows:
Support Solution

Generating HTML Page from Solution

  1. Open the Support Solution window and query for your support solution.
  2. Make sure the solution type is FAQ.
  3. Right-click and then click Generate HTML Page. The basic data information regarding the file name will be given in the File Name field.
  4. Click Generate to generate the HTML page.
  5. Open the temp directory and view the HTML page.
