Basic Data Setup

Configuration Characteristic

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

Note: If you have not yet already done so, create the following :

  1. Create a configuration characteristic of XXGDCOLOR (XX=your initials). 

  2. Open the Configuration Characteristic window and enter your characteristic with alphanumeric and discrete options.

  3. Option values are not mandatory and can only be used if the characteristic is set to discrete option. For this exercise enter option values White, Black, and Gray.

Language Codes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up language codes required for running this particular functionality.

Windows:
ISO Code Usage

  1. Open the ISO Code Usage window.
  2. Click the Language tab. 
  3. Populate the table window.
  4. Select the check boxes for the languages to be used in IFS Applications.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to translate characteristics and to decide in which documents they should be printed.

Configuration Language Characteristic

Language and Display Info on Configuration Characteristics

  1. Open the Configuration Language Characteristic window and query for the XXGDCOLOR characteristic. Note: You can also right-click in the Configuration Characteristic window to open this window. 
  2. The Characteristic Language Description tab will display a record for the user's current client language.
  3. Create a new record using the following values and save the changes (Note Text is optional).
Language Code Description
Select a language code of your own from the List of Values. Enter the description of the characteristic in the selected language.
  1. Click the Option Language Description tab and select Black in the Option Value ID field. The table window will display a record for the option for the user's current client language.
  2. Create a new record using the following values and save:

Select a language code of your own from the List of Values. Enter the description of the characteristic in the selected language
  1. Repeat the process for the  gray and white options records. Save.
  2. If the user needs to have translation for more languages, repeat steps 2 through 4.  
  3. In the Display Information tab, select Yes on the documents where the characteristic and selected option values are to be printed. Select No on the documents where you do not wish to print the characteristic. Save.
