Configuration Characteristic

IFS Racing, which manufactures garage doors, has identified the following characteristics that make every garage door unique: color, height, width, and whether a remote control is included. Therefore, these characteristics need to be entered in the system.

Create Configuration Characteristics

  1. Open the Configuration Characteristic window.
  2. Create a new record.

Note: Replace the XX in the characteristics below with your initials. This ensures uniqueness and makes it easier to locate your data. For example, John Smith would prefix his data with the letters JS: JSGDCOLOR, JSGDREMOTE. You do not need to adhere to this naming convention for the discrete options you create.

  1. In the Characteristic ID field, enter XXGDPOWERSYS.
  2. In the Description field, enter Desired power system voltage.
  3. In the CBS Scheduled list, verify that Not CBS Scheduled is selected .
  4. In the Config Data Type list, click Numeric.
  5. In the Config Value Type list, click Discrete Option.
  6. In the Unit field, enter V.
  7. In the Mandatory Qty list, click No.
  8. In the Client Display list, click Standard.
  9. Save the changes. The XXGDPOWERSYS characteristic is created.
  10. The next step is entering option values. Select the first row in the table window and create a new record.
  11. In the Option Value ID field, enter 115. Enter a description of 115 Volt.
  12. After all necessary option values are entered, Save the changes.
  13. Repeat steps 11 and 12 to enter the following option value IDs: 240 and 400.
  14. Enter the following characteristics:
