Final Attendance Reporting—Exercises
Basic Data Setup
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data
required for running this functionality. To enter this data, follow the
instructions in the Administering Wage Codes,
Administering Work Hour Rules,
Administering
Working Hours Schedules and
Scheduled
Compensations exercises. If you have already completed those exercises, the data you need
should already be in the database, and you can proceed directly to the main
exercises.

Note: This exercise assumes that the company is changing
its production from daytime work to a two-shift schedule, a morning shift, and an
afternoon shift.
- Create a new two-shift schedule for the workers in the production line.
Use the Working Hours Schedules/Cycle Schedules window.
- The morning shift works from
5:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., with a one-hour lunch break at 9:00 A.M.
- The afternoon shift works from 2:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M., with a one-hour
dinner break at 6:00 P.M.
- Enter the overtime regulations as follows:
- The morning shift should receive double time for all overtime worked before the scheduled
beginning of the day. After the scheduled end of the day, the workers should
receive time and a half for the first four hours, and then double time for any additional hours.
- The afternoon shift gets time and a half for work performed between 10:00 A.M. and
2:00 P.M. During other times of the day, the workers are paid double
time.
- Allow one hour of flex at the beginning and end of each shift, and 30 minutes
of flex before and after lunch.
- The company has an agreement stating that the production line closes at
1:00 P.M. on days preceding public holidays. This means that the first
shift works until 1:00 P.M. and the second shift does not work at all. On public
holidays, the factory is closed. Create a substitution schedule that
incorporates this rule and then connect the substitution schedule to the two-shift schedule.
Note: Because a two-shift schedule requires more employees than the ordinary daytime schedule, you
must modify the employee register and the position and organization structures
appropriately.
- After adding the employees in the employee register and modifying structures, connect all four workers to
the new two-shift schedule. Two of them should start in the morning and
two in the afternoon.
- Try your new schedules by creating clockings in the Time Card – Day window. Also verify that the correct day types are used for public holidays and the days
preceding the holidays.
