Authorizing Time Card Information—Exercises

Required Data

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter the data required for running this functionality. To enter this data, follow the instructions in the Registering In and Out Clockings exercises. If you have completed this exercise, the data you need should already be in the database, and you can proceed directly to the main exercise.

Main Exercise 

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to use the different tools for authorization of employee clockings and results. These tools enable a supervisor or human resources manager to verify and authorize employees' time results.

Time Card – Day

  1. Open the Authorization window.
  2. Change the dates to cover the dates that you have been working with in the previous exercises.
  3. Populate the window. Information about the employees is displayed, sorted by supervisor. 
  4. In the Supervisor list, click your supervisor ID. The employees to whom you have access are displayed in the table.
  5. Select one employee, right-click, and then click Time Card – Week.
  6. If all days are correct, right-click and then click Confirm to confirm the week.
  7. Right-click and then click Authorize to authorize the week.
  8. If you need to correct the clockings, right-click and then click Time Card – Day, and make the necessary changes.
  9. Return to the Time Card – Week window, and complete step 7.
  10. Open the Authorization window.
  11. Right-click and then click Populate Supervisor Data to repopulate the window with the information that you added when you authorized the week. The authorization status, displayed in the Authorized field, should be set to Completely.
  12. Select another employee, and authorize by right-clicking then clicking Authorize.
  13. Verify that the value in the Authorized field is Completely. If not, open the Time Card – Day window, and correct the clockings. Complete the authorization in this window.
  14. Return to the Authorization window and verify that the value in the Authorized field is Completely.
  15. Open the Time Card – Week window, and check the status of the nonworking days. What is their status? Try to make a clocking on a nonworking day. Why do you think it is not possible to do that?
