Connect a Department to a Workshop

Explanation

This activity is used to define and connect a department to the selected workshop. A workshop can have several departments connected to it. The department code can be used when you want to distribute tasks to various departments within a workshop, for example, if you want the repair of a component to be carried out by the mechanical department of a selected workshop.

Prerequisites

A workshop must exist.

Procedure

1. Open the Maintenance Task Basic Data window and click the Department tab.
2. In the Workshop Code field, query (F3) for the required workshop code.
3. Create a new record (F5) on the table of the window. 
4. Enter a suitable value in the Department Code field. You can enter up to 10 alphanumeric characters here.
5. Enter a description of the department in the Description field.
6. Save the record (F12).
